on this day in 1974 Tim Horton funeral in TOronto.
Several days after his tragic death in a car crash, Tim Horton's high-profile funeral is held on a sunny February day in Toronto. "The crowd that filed out into the harsh winter sun read like a 'who's who' of professional hockey," says the reporter in this 1974 CBC News clip. Horton's pallbearers are hockey greats Allan Stanley, Bob Baun, Dave Keon, George Armstrong, Dick Duff and Billy Harris. And by pure chance, there were no NHL games scheduled on the day of his funeral.

They were leaning heavily on the bizzare "donuts & soup" combo when we were there. They gave us the very clear impression it was JUST "donuts & soup." Nothing about coffee. whatsoever. Just sayin'..... In our experience some Canadians are pretty quirky but that's OK - we admire that.

But donuts & soup? eww....

In our experience, Canadians can be pretty quirky. That's OK - it takes courage to be a quirky indidvidual these days & we've always admired that. Everyone was always friendly & extremely polite in Canada - especially teenagers.

We just still think the concept of "donuts & soup" is not appetizing at all. They also had chili in bread bowls.

Thanks for chiming in about COFFEE but hey - even gas stations have that. Everyone already knows that.
