Hi,hi,hi ya Rona!!! (Sung to the song My Sharona by The Knack!) Borderstone here! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif Welcome to "The Gordon Lightfoot Discussion Forum" website! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif
Nice to see another fan out there! As you may of observed,I post quite a lot. Then again I have lots to say. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Like everyone here,I'm an avid listener of Lightfoot music and have all of his albums except 2 early '60s LPs from Canada and a live one called "Over 60 minutes with Gordon Lightfoot." Also, like a select few,I've gotten to meet him and get his autograph & talk for a minute or so! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif Hope you have been or will be as lucky! Have fun now! Bye! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif ------------------ "A knight of the road, going back to a place where he might get warm." ;) - Borderstone |
You are so lucky "B". I almost had a chance to chat to Gord and get an autograph back in '01 but lost out because my young daughter fell asleep on the grass! lol. It was an outside event in Peterborough. I regret that one. Might have been my only chance...

I have never met Gordon, although I have been to dozens of concerts in California and Ohio. No doubt I would be speechless if I had the opportunity anyway. In high school, my mom took me out of school early one day because the Chicago White Sox were in town to play the Cleveland Indians. (We lived in Ohio for a few years until we moved back to my native California.) My favorite player, Ken Henderson, was then on the White Sox, so we went early during batting practice. The idea was I would go up to him and have a witty conversation about how he was my favorite player from when he was on the SF Giants, and I was from the Bay Area, etc. etc. We got there, I saw him, called his name, held out a pen and paper, got his autograph, and was unable to utter a single word! I'm sure I'd get even more tounge-tied with Gordon, whom I have loved since the summer after 8th grade, when my sister came home from coolege with Sit Down Young Stranger (or should I say, SDYS? Thanks for the abbreviations tip!) http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif And the smilies tip!

Sta. Mas. ,the only regret I have about meeting him that night is,had I known he was cool about giving autographs,I would've brought some LP's! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif He did sign my ticket though and a concert hall schedule poster. All but one band member signed too,I wont say who because I understand his reluctance.
Rona, you and Sta. Mas. may still have a chance to meet GL. If he tours nationally, just wait outside after the show,he'll emerge, trust me. I waited nearly 45 to 50 mins. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif Been me,Aurevoir! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif ------------------ "A knight of the road, going back to a place where he might get warm." ;) - Borderstone |

Quite a few posters here may divulge that strategy, maybe not. But he's not showering, etc. for those 45 to 50 minutes that you'll be waiting, he's 'meeting and greeting' so why not try and get in on that action? Bill http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif |
I also returned to my maginficent obsession with this man after quite a few years! I won't say how many, but quite a few! It's like returning to the same home town you couldn't wait to leave when you were 18, but 30 years later you return and find comfort in every memory.
