I haven't heard "I'll Tag Along", but I read the lyrics and it sounded depressing. I thought Wild Strawberries sounded more uplifting. I believe God's people will finally win, cuz the bible says so. So, I'd say, nope, that's not true about never really winning, sweetie pie... Mmmmmm, strawberry pie.

How about "Now and Then". I mean, haven't we all been in relationships where we should just let go but don't?
|
I'll Tag Along is a favorite of mine. To my mind, it's a positive song, perhaps I haven't been paying attention to lyrics, I don't know. O.K., I just went back and re-read the lyrics. I love this song because to me he's saying I'll share with you anything I have in this relationship. It seems like a second relationship and he's learned from the first. We have things we can do without, and if you have problems, turn to me and I'll tag along (I'll be there to help.) It seems very sweet and positive.

The Last Time I Saw Her Face . . .
Mid 60s. The Golden Bear. The Troubador. Live. That song? Why the cry? So deep . . . Why? Early 70s. Back in the World. The Lavender tale. The Beautiful Rainbow. Gone. Now the Recording. "Why" indeed. I knew. The Rez |
"Tattoo" really got to me after the first few listens!
|
I'm not sure why...but "Never to Close"
|
OK - since I'm the newest one here, I'll take the bait. Who's Lyle?
The songs that touch me? "Song for a Winter's Night" and "That Same Old Obsession". I think it has as much to do with the emotional place you were in when you heard them as the song itself. These two were always sad and comforting to me at the same time, if that makes sense. |
It's not too late Layne. You can still delete your post. Maybe no one else has seen it yet?
Please not the Lyle nonsense again. If it gets bad, just remember, you had to go and ask. Shellfish still makes me cry sometimes for very personal reasons. |

Yes, Tattoo makes me VERY mournful and misty. But, <sigh>, I love that song!!!
|
OK - I got a private message from a kind soul explaining Lyle (as well as a thing like that can be explained). Officially, pretend I never asked, but I think I'm going to like it here.
;) |
OK . . .
Now, somebody tell me. Love, Lyle |
Aw, c'mon, explain it in here so the rest of us can join in on the fun! (tee hee hee hee hee...!!! can't wait!)

Looking at the Rain is one of Lightfoot's that touches something deep...the bit of a quaver in his voice at one point shows how close to the heart it is.

Bill :) |
I can remember hearing The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald when I was about 6 or 7 years old and it almost brought me to tears. I didn't actually cry but I remember grieving ( if that's possible) for a long time. That song has always had an effect on me. After 2 kids and a wife (age 33) I took my family up to Whitefish Pt. to see the bell. Overlooking Lake Superior and watching the waves crash while listening to Lightfoot's haunting balllad is almost a religious experience.
Does anyone know anything about the movie????? |
Thanks Bill. I wasn't sure how I was going to get through that eulogy but somehow, it's almost as if Lyle was sitting on my shoulder giving me the words to say.
It seems like just yesterday Lyle set fire to Gord's drapes and Meatloaf and Mott The Hoople got into it. Such memories. |
Hey Borderstone..When I was growing up and had my first crush...Pussywillows Cattails always bought tears to my eyes...he of course was a little older than I..and I was the unforbidden sister of his friend! lol! (but we did sneak a kiss or two)
"The Way I Feel" can bring tears to my eyes now...its a very lonely haunting song and very deep...I LIKE IT! l0l!! |

If Children Had Wings

Hey Linda! :) For me,the song that reminds me of my 1st love isn't a Gord song at all but is,"Love Is In The Air" by John Paul Young. It doesn't make me cry but I smile when hear it because it reminds me of how at 10,the love I felt was nothing more than that..."pure love".

Hey, Stationmaster, THANK YOU for my first good laugh of the day. Laughing so hard I was crying.. and this is my second foray into the Lyle story... ahhh, poor, poor Lyle..... LOL!
|
Stationmaster -
Thanx for the visual (I think) - might fall under the heading of too much information, but, hey - I did ask after all.......... My condolences to Lyle......... |
My goodness, I hardly knew I was in the world at 10....quite the charmer you were! lol! That was so sweet... I didn't have my crush until I was in my teens...(you know, those awkward years!!) lol! I'm sure if I had a crush at 10...I would be smiling too....if anything, for how young I had the crush! lol!! You brought a smile to my face today Borderstone...Thanks! lol!
