dont forget Dream street rose - very underrated album

I agree withBrink 100%. Also if you want a good folk album, get the 1968-69, "Back Here On Earth".

Welcom from me as well Jennifer !

I'd add to your list, after a quick read of the reccomendations above, all good:

Cold On The Shoulder - classic 70's, much
like Sundown feel in some ways -its great

A Painter Passing Through among best newer
millenium Lightfoot - Title song is killer

Summertime Dream - 2nd to last of classic
70's period - intro some electric subtleties

Note: his voice changed a lot after around 85?
recordings before East of Midnight versus
after are surprisingly different than the
70's - a very defining peak to some in
his career- all "periods" have strengths

I to agree with Brink TOO; if only 1 album - Songbook 4 CD-set - the 18 unreleased songs are treasures and you see the whole snapshots of his life's work. - I like Dream Street Rose, too,

Question is, which do we NOT like ? LOL -

My favo(u)rites: Sundown, Don Quixote, Cold on Shoulder, If You Could Read My Mind, Songbook

geo Steve (versus other "Steve's"

Just to add my two cents and further embarass Bill, not only is he a talented singer/songwriter, he is darn good looking too!!

Welcome aboard Jennifer. My reccomendation is Summer Side of Life. Whenever I play that cd, I come away thinking just how great it is. I tend to play one cd over and over (too lazy to put another in the car most likely!), and then go on to the next. It can often be months, sometimes a year or so before I go back and revist a cd again. Summer Side of Life is the one that I always wonder why I waited so long to listen to it.

PS. I'm just a Jenney, not a Jennifer.

Wow, you're all so nice. And to think, just days ago I felt like one of the only Lightfoot fans in the whole world, with no one to share my appreciation with, yet here you all are... Kinda makes me wonder what the heck took my butt so long to get here!?

LOL. My head is spinning from all these recommendations but I love the enthusiasm, it is great.

Well, I went on Amazon today and Don Quixote will be at my doorstep hopefully *tomorrow* :) I am very eager to hear it!

I'm from the east coast of Nothern Maine. Wait... there is no ocean, so there is no coast. I'm on the New Brunswick border in Northern Maine.
Jennifer, welcome to Corfid.

So Don Quixote was awaiting me on my doorstep yesterday; I am still absorbing the songs but Alberta Bound, 2nd Cup of Coffee and Ordinary Man have quickly struck my fancy!

Peace~ Jen

When I first heard my DQ album, Ordinary Man was the first to strike me, too. Following in a close 2nd was The Patriots Dream.

Good job Jennifer !

DQ is my favorite album and 2nd Cup Of Coffee is my favorite song. You have excellent taste, LOL. Play the whole CD straight through and it starts to seem like one great song after awhile.

Bill :)

2nd Cup of Coffee is my favorite song on that album. I also love On Susan's Floor (even though it is a cover) brings back great old memories.
