I have just read most of this topic for the first time having found that it contains two of Gaby's most recent postings (of three so far in 2005) and a very erudite contribution by our charming and twittering moderator and I immediately thought of my very favo(u)rite Lightfoot poem "Pussywillows, Cat-tails".it seems to me to have so many things going for it on many diffrent levels
alliterations Catbirds and cornfields Riding on the roadside and general superb control of the wonderful English language viz:- Reveling, disheveling Soft lips and fingertips Treasuring, remembering Naked limbs and wheat bins Ok not onamatopoeic but beautiful rhyming fantastic stuff John Fowles |
