My covers are avaibable on http://www.soundclick.com/sevy
at a very reasonnable price. One of my friend used to say that a good job is a finished job... mine is finished..."you" will say if it is good.
I play with a banjoist and a bassist who is too a great pianist, synthé and sound engineer.
NUIT D'HIVER, is a french cover of SFAWN
You have already heard LA RAISON DE MA VIE cover of Inspiration Lady.
DANS LA FORET is a cover of Home from the Forest.
JE NE SAIS PAS, a cover of I"m not saying.
I work on editing the CD (but in france, its a real war against administration... there is allways a missing paper !!!)
Thaks a lot for your attention !
Yves

Its hard to let people know what we do.
You are certainly the ones who can help me the best...because you are fans (of Gordon Lightfoot of course..lol)
I am in touch with at least 5 of you. If every one send my soundclick link to 5 of his friends and and ask them expressly to do the same, and if those ones do the same...and so on !!!lol...very quickly, the equivalent of the french population can listen to my work... I have the vertigo...
You can do it !
Thanks a lot
Yves

Sounds like a plan and so much better than an old chain letter.

Bill :)

Ok....I umderstand that this perspective may elicit jeers,

I have listened to Yves renditions, and they are gorgeous. However, I think that the borderline between Lightfoot and self-promotion may have been breached here. Perhaps the thread should move to small talk. Just my opinion....

Well my friend, I do not understand all that you say, but remember that, on my side, there is no idea of self promotion... It's just a game. My music is my game. I'm 57 and P.E Teacher. I will never be at the hall of fame, I just take pleasure to what I do and am happy if somebody else takes pleasure too.
My game, this time would be to have an answer from Gordon Lightfoot himself, and his opinion because I have done a sincere and serious job, in a complete respect of him and of all of you who admire him.
He is not very well known here in france and it's a way to repare that.
Merci de votre soutien.

Yves,

I hope you will also trust that I meant no offense.
Your game is beautiful. I've stated my opinion, and will leave it at that. Carry on....

It's ok, No problem at all. Just a preision to explain that I m not moved by ambition. But we all know that artistic expression exists nearly only because of an audience.
I appreciate your advice

Yves,

Very nicely done. The banjo works very well. I particularly liked his harmonics and the nice bridge you played on "Winter's Night."

Your guys may enjoy some of Gord's songs that use a banjo, from the Old Dan's Records album. In particular, "Farewell to Annabell" and the title track.

I can't tell for certain, with the low res photos, but is that a D 28 on your lap?

Again, very nicely done.

TY. Yes, (if it is the question), my guitar is a D28 and my friend plays a Stelling banjo.

Yves,

We D28'ers should stick together!

<Yves SAVARIAUD> 05-27-2006 12:36 PM

Well if I have to stick with somebody I prefer one of the blonde from Alert in Malibu...LOL
I saw you are from Virginia and I think that Wayne Henderson comes from Virginia. We recently had the opporunity to jam with him here in france (well ...just try to follow !!) but Wayne considers my friend banjoïst as a great and fine picker... and is a genial and modest musician full of talent and humanism.

Yves,

What a treat you had jamming with Wayne Henderson. I live in the eastern part of Virginia, but I grew up in those western mountains as did Wayne Henderson. I've not met him, but know of his instruments.

If you haven't heard, there's a wonderful book about Wayne and his guitar making/playing, called Clapton's Guitar, by Allen St. John. I mentioned this book here on the board a few months ago. You would no doubt enjoy it. There's lots of good Martin lore there too.

<Yves SAVARIAUD> 05-29-2006 12:13 AM

Wayne Henderson is the nicest of men. His instruments are great. I have played at least 3 of his guitars. One good friend of mine own a guitar that Wayne "gave" to him and 2 others have guitars of his own (that they have not been waiting as so long as Clapton !!!!) because Wayne's friend are much more important than VIP guitarists. I will take the time to post a pic of our last jam.
