Does this guy sell on eBay now or is he still banned? Does GL know about this? I'm not convinced that what he is doing is legal. Does he pay GL and the band a piece of the profit? If not, GL and the band are getting cheated and could (but probably won't) sue them for back royalities and other illegal acts. Don't mean to be a downer but I hate to see performers who I admire get cheated. For example, I will not burn a cd for the person I love most unless the cd is no longer available. YMMV

Looks like this character is ripping off both traders and artists - the worst of both worlds. Since lowly traders don't really have the resources to do anything legally, it would be refreshing if artists, including Lightfoot, could make a move.

I don't know if he is still banned, the user name that he was using is still banned but he apparently has several to choose from.
Don't know if he is paying royalties BUT he isn't sending out any product so he isn't ripping Lightfoot off. There obviously is no DVD to sell. The only people that are getting ripped off are the fans that want to buy the DVD.

The Soundstage tape was taped directly off the tv so I don't think that would have anything to do with royalties or be illegal, same with SNL and the Hotel and Johnny Cash shows.

The reason you all have had good trading experiences in the past is because the "regulars" here are good honest folks not looking to rip off Lightfoot or each other. They just want to see, hear and share as much of him as possible. These "regulars" would fight to be first in line should the same material ever become available commercially. However, the powers that be in the Lightfoot camp have already proven that they don't interpret it like that and have made thinly veiled threats of legal action (this came about in the News Group for those not familiar with my reference). This is why I always suggest that trades be done privately and not in the public forum.

That said, I think a good rule of thumb is when an individual only posts once and it is to peddle a trade and never joins in any of the other threads, he or she is probably not here for the communal joy of Lightfoot. No doubt, they are out to scam any who respond and should probably be avoided no matter how enticing their product sounds. But hey, maybe I'm just too cynical and untrusting :)

Be careful what you wish for, T.G. If artists made a legal move, it would not only be directed at scammers but would probably include traders as well (unless the material was originally recorded with the artists' permission - in comparison, there are very few performers who encourage recording and sharing of their live shows).

Brink, Possibly I misunderstood but did you say "Daryl" recorded GLb from the tv? I thought he was offering a dvd of Lightfoot at Wolf Trap last summer. If indeed it is WT then maybe the Wallaces and I appear in it. Just kidding!

He taped the Soundstage (PBS) from the TV and then was selling it on eBay. That was a couple years ago, now he is offering the Wolf Trap that obviously doesn't exist.
