There you go! The Sundown picture is about as perfect as it gets - he just needs to get rid of that cigarette......
It is amazing to line up the albums and see the different faces. The beard is the look, though! I may be prejudiced, though. See Fezo and his beard |
As has been said so eloquently: bearded, bearded, bearded!

I love his face with no hair at all. I noticed in the Reno DVD that he has a gorgeous profile and a dancer's grace on the stage...not to mention his '12 string stance'. I noticed this particularly when he went over to Mike H. at the end of 'I'll Prove My Love to You' Speaking of the Reno DVD, did anyone notice that when Terry C.came on stage for the first set he picked up the electric guitar when the first song, "DQ" was totally acoustic? I wonder if it was just a mistake or whether there were some songs that didn't make it on the DVD. Does anyone know?

DQ was the second song played; he opened with Sea Of Tranquility. In total, he played 27 songs that night, of which 22 made the DVD. One of the other four, Beautiful, was used in the CBC 14 song broadcast but not on the DVD. One must assume that certain songs were omitted because there was something that Lightfoot didn't like; could have been a recording glitch, or some element of the performance. We all know he has a reputation of being a perfectionist. ------------------ Valerie Magee Visit my business site at mageenet.biz, Hamilton Camp's Offical Web Site at hamiltoncamp.com , and Cathy Cowette's web site at cathycowette.com. All of the above <g>. My husband's the same way: beard on, beard off, or cleanshaven except with or without mustache. At one point he was growing it out then shaving it off then growing it back so often that I had trouble remembering when I wasn't looking at him whether he was bearded or clean-shaven.
These days (post 50) he pretty much stays clean-shaven - also with shaved head. It wasn't so much the thinning but the gray that bothered him. I've gotten used to the Mr. Clean look (minus the earring) but the first time he took the hair off I was so startled I laughed. For three days. Which did not amuse my beloved, but I couldn't seem to help it. Nice shape though. As for Gord, at least the mustache. Maybe a goatee? My Dad sprouted one after he retired - look a bit like Mitch Miller but actually suited him. |

interesting, val...and aa! i wonder if there's a way they can check if one's head has any unusual golfball-like dents before going all out and shaving it? tempting, eh
goatee? just given me a great idea, thx! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/smile.gif |

Thanks for clearing that up for me Val. I am really sad that 5 songs didn't make the DVD? I especially love "Beautiful". I doubt we will see another GL performance filmed and I just wish we could have seen everything on this one. I noticed that he missed a couple of lyrics and notes but who cares? As Tina Turner used to say 'Concerts are about fun and not perfection'. Leave that(perfection)to the CDs.

After finally seeing video & film clips I can honestly say,as much as I dig the 70s and all,his words somehow come across better to me without all that facial hair. Circa,1970-1972. I think since he sings a more honest form of music and words, having a straight forward look makes me take it more seriously.
Besides,in the 1976 SNL clip,he looks a little like Will Farrell with the beard he wore in some sketches. No offense. http://www.corfid.com/ubb/wink.gif ------------------ "A knight of the road, going back to a place where he might get warm." ;) - Borderstone |
I think most of the ladies like the beard.

Bearded! Sundown with a beard would have been great!

The older he gets, the more I like clean-shaven.
