Which username is the very first member of this board? Florian (moderater) is #3, and I think so Florian Bodenseher (administrator) is #2, so which is the first?

Sir Johnny was the 5th. Corfid may have been the first.

Hmmmmmm, apparently not. Corfid was the first UNREGISTERED member, but not the first to actually register. Who was the first?

This is very interesting, just who is # 1, if any. Or were they saving it , in case Gord himself wanted to be a Corfidian.

Actually, the name "Gordon Lightfoot" is already taken, so maybe they did.

I imagine Florian, the owner, might have also been number 1 in addition to being 2 and 3. After all no one else could be a member until he created the site.
It does appear that John is the first member after Florian's various memberships, to join.

OK this is long but it contains text only (no pix)

I first encountered Florian in his earlier Newsgroup posting on september 2 1999 where I note incidentally that he used the screenname "corfid" at:-
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.music.lightfoot/browse_frm/thread/3d725bb71cf2f4fd/1065be80e600c007?lnk=st&q=obsession+group%3Aalt.music.lightfoot+author%3Ac orfid&rnum=1&hl=en#1 065be80e600c007 (http://groups.google.com/group/alt.music.lightfoot/browse_frm/thread/3d725bb71cf2f4fd/1065be80e600c007?lnk=st&q=obsession+group%3Aalt.music.lightfoot+author%3Ac orfid&rnum=1&hl=en#1065be80e600c007)
and in which he presented his "personal interpretation" on the meaning of 'Same Old Obsession'
Very soon after that(on Mon, Sep 20 1999) Florian announce to an unsuspecting world that
"I set up a Gordon Lightfoot website and I hope it will attract new fans to
the music of Gordon Lightfoot as well as benefit current fans."
read his historic posting at:-
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.music.lightfoot/msg/85e24483fcb705c3?hl=en&
My own first corfid posting was to start a new topic immediately I had read florian's announcement on the very same day (September 20th)
I cheekily entitled it "Someone has to be second" at:-
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=000003;p=1#0000 00
note that was topic number 3 in today's Forum 1
I opened by saying "Looks like it's me, as Corfid got here first"
so I obviously had read at least one posting by Florian "the first"
Forum 1 topic number 1 is now at:-
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=000001;p=1#0000 00
I suspect that this was originally from a previously unregistered member going by the unlikely screen name of "corfid"
I suspect Florian before posting his reply above did a quick registration of the name corfid on June 30th as Member Member # 1385. and I note that his first unregistered posting to topic number 1 at:_
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=000001;p=1#0000 00
contains these telling lines
"Hi, and welcome to the discussion board.
[This message has been edited by Florian (edited September 21, 1999).]"
topic 2 no longer exists in the collection accessible from here but astute use of the ""Wayback Machine" at http://www.wayback.notlong.com
easy link to:-
http://www.archive.org/web/web.php
accesses various archived copies of the forums
including the very first (presumed) test forum topic
called would you believe "test1" at:-
http://web.archive.org/web/20030425004302/www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000001.html
on august 31 1999 by an unregistered "corfid"
Note at that time it was "Forum1"
Florian replied (as "florian moderator")
to the first small talk topic at:-
http://web.archive.org/web/20030503215845/www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/000001.html
Florian also used forum3 for a test on december 10th 1999 at:-
http://web.archive.org/web/20030425005152/www.corfid.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000001.html
so at some point he must have renumbered the 3 forums in reverse order
I found that it is not now possible to reply to that old topic
at least not from the archived copy
but adapting the address to the current format in f2=forum2 as:-
http://www.corfid.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=000001
I could reply and did so just now.
anybody who has looked up my profile by checking the "directory" facility by looking for "fowles"
will have found that I have registered three times, originally
John Fowles (Member # 5)
Member
Registered: September 20, 1999
and
fowlesjohn (Member # 507)
Member
Registered: October 18, 2002
I suspect that that was when I forgot how I had registered so used my name in reverse as I had done with hotmail
and
johnfowles2 (Member # 1169)
Member

when I needed an alter ego for a Private Messaging test
checking profiles
http://www.corfid.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_profile;u=00000001
so now member number1 is an unnamed individual who registered "A Long Time Ago! " as did unnamed number 2
number 3
http://www.corfid.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_profile;u=00000003
is indeed Florian who registered on 12th september 1999 as Administrator
as is number 4 Florian registering on 18th september 1999 as moderator
Member number 6 dvuk1968 is interesting as he only posted 4 times back in 1999 to one topic
http://www.corfid.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=000006;p=1#0000 00
or
http://www.corfid.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=000006
(coincidentally the topic number is 6 also
about replacing his stolen Salute vinyl)
and in his profile claimed to be from "Eatontown, NJ, USA"
As soon as I post this I'll try PM to him (might work if he still has the same email addy)

I see your two messages. well done and also I replied to a message there from Char
re your question aboot high speed. I think Susan just might have got over her fears about this (she is convinced that all the local crooks intend to park outside our house coupled up to our computers in order to glean info on our bank accounts especially passwords. but lately she has given encouraging
indications that soon we'll have it!! woo hoo
