My favorite song is so difficult to select . . . time, place, mood, and other factors may cause a certain song to be my "favorite". But for today, I would say "Now & Then" is it . . . it's smooth, words are great, not a top-40, and it creates a mood!
Just wondering if anyone else experiences this? While I can listen to GL all the time, it seems like fall and winter are times when I particularly enjoy his music . . . just wondering

I find that, according to mood, there are certain albums of his that I prefer. Can't say that season affects me, however. Perhaps if I lived in a place where there WERE seasons...!! (I live in Los Angeles.)

Stevens,I think when one likes an artist as much as we like Gordon Lightfoot...yes,it does become difficult to choose an ovrall favorite song.
When you only know the "Top 40 chart hits" of an act, then it's easy. I'd simply say (for example) my favorite Joni Mitchell song is,"You Turn Me On (I'm A Radio)".
I don't know her whole catalouge like I do Gord's so it's easy to pick one song. My favorite changes all the time too, although for the past year & 1/2 I've heavily favored "End Of All Time". Maybe because it was the greatest surprise to come out of "Harmony". ;)
..but,I also have favorite ballads by Gord, like "Beautiful","Your Love's Return" and "My Love For You" etc... I can't make a final choice,so I just say,"There's some I like very much and some that are pretty good." A lot easier than trying to pick "1".
P.S.Don't feel to bad Cheryl,I live in Phoenix and it's the upper 70's right now (12:30pm) in late November!! I want winter weather!!

Poor baby, Borderstone! That's way too hot for November! It was cool and crisp on the east coast today. (oh... I was soOo0ooo happy!)
My favorite GL song has never changed from the first time I heard it. It's "Song For A Winter's Night" but it must be the Gord's Gold version. "On The High Seas" has always been a very close second.
With the hundreds of incredibly beautiful songs he's recorded it's a wonder any of us can ever narrow it down to just one favorite.
