I read this in an old copy of MacLean's magazine...
North Carolina Rapper, ELWOOD, does a cover of "Sundown" in his cd "The Parlance Of Our Time"...Watch the video on this site! He's even got a big, fat Harley dude on it...check it out!...(Little Miss Sundown sure looks "saucy"!)

Hate to say it, but I have to be honest...
Man, What GARBAGE.
Typical of the music scene today. Can't come up with anything new, so they take a classic and ruin it.
Sorry if I offended anyone.

It's a "given" that Gordy's original "Sundown" stands on it's own merit & that it's timeless & classy...
BUT!!
...that saucy, sexy little version sure looked fun & probably appeals to a younger market who's probably never even heard of Gordon Lightfoot (let alone Sundown!).
Hmmmm...I wonder what Gordy thinks of it?
(I know Rick H. would love to own that Harley! hehehehe)

I hate rap generally, but this I can listen too because the original tune is so powerful. And dare I say -- a heck of a lot better than Elvis' "Early Mornin' Rain". Kinda like with Kid Rock -- he sure is wierd, but actually a pretty good singer. I see nothing wrong with redoing classics...just listen to the Dixie Chicks version of "Landslide" by Stevie Nicks.

Bill!
Did you enjoy Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" album?
If so, there's a "cover" of the entire album by various bands. It's called
"Legacy: A Tribute To Fleetwood Mac's Rumours"
Some of the tunes on this compilation were decent....there's yet another similar one devoted to Mac as well...have you seen/heard these?
