An open letter to all you Gordon bashers,
I'm getting sick and tired of you few out there that bitch about Gordon's voice being weak, what to do if he dies, and generally berating him in general, you just don't get it!
In the first place a Gordon Lightfoot show is an event, a rite of passage if you will and a privelege. I've been going to his concerts since 1983 and have NEVER been disappointed, yes his voice is not as strong as it once was but the man is 62 damn yrs old!( I can think of others) I hope I can get out of bed when I'm 62! and besides his newest studio release"A painter Passing Through is one of his best in years!
If you people want proof, watch the PBS special that was just broadcast last month and when Gordon and the band sing "If you could read my mind" watch and listen to the crowd, it gives me goose bumps everytime I watch it(at least 10 times now!LOL)and that from a man who's voice is gone!
Why do you people rag on us who carry the torch like LAMS, Char and the rest of us who get the message?.
If you don't care for Gordon thats cool but please don't express your discontent here. We celebrate Gordon's music and his life on this site. Better yet why not just tune out.

Ditto, Ditto and Ditto Chuck. Not only does it burn my butt to have someone show such disrespect to Gord but to see someone show such utter disrespect to the ladies who participate in this forum is contemptable.I doubt that this person would have the guts to say those things to a woman's face. It takes a lowdown person to attack from the annonimity of a chat room. I feel sorry for this person and wonder what kind of upbringing they had that would lead them to do such a thing. But, we should all be comforted by the universal law "What goes around will come around"

Well said, Chuck and John. You have both
stated so completely what the rest of us feel, I am sure. This forum will continue
to thrive because at the end of the day
its the Lightfoot people who want to come
and visit, to meet fellow GL fans, to discuss and learn about him and his music.
Let the moronic few go find another 'sandbox'
in which to cause chaos. We are secure.
Are you two coming to the Massey in May?

Chuck and John,
I just want to thank both of you. (Silver Heels, you KNOW how grateful I am to you -- lol). Chuck, I haven't forgotten about you and I will be in touch. Just the Holidays and a few personal and health problems have kind of gotten in the way. Watch your e-mail. And THANK YOU so much for what you said for Gord. I know he would be appreciative.
John, I want to thank you for your respectful words. I know that you are a true gentleman and you can't possibly know how it feels to hear a man say the words you said. Thank you so very much for speaking out. It is people like you that make this site such a nice place to be.
Stay loose, eh?

Wow I am at work listening to The Fitzgerald
and find this wonderful sight and someone has been slamming MR Lightfoot of which I have been an avid fan since I was 14, some 28 yrs ago. Unfortuanatly people are going to make there comments and try to get your goat. Please do not let them affect your love or thoughts of Gordon Lightfoot as the memories you have - and can call upon in instances of situations or a paticular event will never be marred by the indecent comments of others. There appears to be a group of you that are genuine with your thoughts and this specific individual(s) are yanking your chain, Ignore them and carry on!

Gary,
Since I've become the "black sheep" of this list (to a handful or just one person -- I, too, am not sure), I don't know if I'm staying in line by saying this, but like Silver Heels, I too, would like to welcome your presence here. PLEASE tell us your memories and experience. And thanks for your kind words.
Stay loose, eh?

I hope not.
