Gordon Lightfoot officially opens Renascent House, a rehabilitation clinic for alcoholics in downtown Toronto. In this CBC Television clip, Lightfoot says he has a personal reason for making the rare public appearance. "I have a history of similar problems of my own," the singer says. Lightfoot says he was not lucky enough to have a facility like Renascent House when he stopped drinking many years ago.

Geeze I read that and thought "hmmm..he did this a few years ago too!"

Clicked the link and saw it was the archives at CBC website....aha!
I'm sure there's many things he does that are not big publicity events and are personal to him. It's nice that he did this for the Renascent House. He's that kind of guy..Nice to see it again...

I saw this before too. It's a nice clip. He seems so humble; you can tell he doesn't want the focus too much on him but the cause itself.
