Default Evel Keneivel :A Farewell Salute at 69.

Just minutes ago,I logged on to the clubhouse PC here at my apt. complex and was going to check my E-Mail at yahoo.

On the front screen of Yahoo, was the news that legendary motorcycle stuntman Evel Keneivel has,at 69, passed away today November 30th,2007 from diabetes and pulminary fibrosis.

As a young boy in the 1970's,i was one of many kids in my generation to look up to him for doing the "cool" and "dangerous" things most of us boys could either only dream of or would never have the nerve to attempt. Also like them,I owned one of those wonderful,"rev-up" by handle,E.K> motorcycle jump kit's. I and my brothers spent hours playing with it.

Most of us saw his amazing stunts over the years on TV and they never failed to be incredibel too or young eyes. Farewell E.V. ,happy landings for your final jump. R.I.P.

Hi Borderstone,

I feel very sad. I actually met him once. Hopefully his memory will live on for a long time. I think the things Evil did were crazy but that was who he was. I know he will be missed.

As a young kid with a motorcycle I put stars and stripes on my helmet, learned to to wheelies standing on the seat and all that cool Kneivel jazz. He was my hero for the time right before I latched on to Gord. And now years later, and knowing the all-to-human frailties of both men -- they are still heroes. We need 'em.

I have to admit, while I thought that the stunts he performed were totally insane at the time, you couldn't help but admire him for having nerves of solid steel.

yeah, i heard him chatting on the Fan590 AM on my commute home a few days before, apparently he played some decent hockey way back when

sorry to hear of his late struggles...unfortunately my last memory of him and his theatrics was when an old bro in law of mine paid big bucks to take me to Maple Leaf Gardens to see his Canyon jump on closed circuit big screen with thousands of others all hyped up...

turns out that's all it was, hype...i kept looking for his motorcycle but it was some sort of rocket instead...his parachute couldnt' hold off and suffered premature ejection...quite a let down

condolences to the family...i think you spell it "Knevel"...Vanna turned a few too many vowels, B
