Kim Lightfoot is right on the mark here when she talks about the "mesmerized" effect Gord has on his audience.
I discovered this at the Toronto CBC studio 1968 live performance titled "Wherefore and Why."
I wasn't sure if I'd been hypnotized as well as being mesmerized.
He performed a song I'd never heard called "Face of a Thousand People" and when I left the studio that night I had the complete chorus and a good portion of the lyrics memorized and they are still in my head to this day.
Talk about leaving an indelible mark.

There's this verse in the song that came right back to me when 9/11 happened:

"Today I saw the world again
It seemed the same as yesterday
The splendour of it's ruins and it's shame
It's towers rose against the sky
Reminding all who care to look
That what's been built can be destroyed again."

Absolutely John!
It's really great being able to see this. It sure takes me right back to that though forgone, wonderful era.
The guy with the premature receding hairline in the front row wearing the black sweater seated slightly right centre would be me.
Note the mesmerizing faces on many in the audience.
The wide screen You Tube video gives a clearer view.
Time to crank up that Gibson B45 and play along with this one!

Thanks so much for posting the notice about the Windsor Film Festival. I had not heard about this, but got a ticket today for the matinee this Saturday.

I just got back from the viewing of the Lightfoot documentary at the Windsor Film Festival.

I'm sure anybody visiting this site will like it, but it was MUCH better than I was expecting! Lots of rare stuff and impressive interviews/comments.

Well worth the 2 hour drive for me to get there.

One of the two directors was there and there was a brief Q&A session with her. One question was "Will it be shown in the US?". The answer was yes, but we're not sure when or where.

Another question was, "Will there be a commercial DVD?". The answer was we're not sure; we're not sure if the demand would be there. There was an audible groan from the crowd who all seemed to think, "Of course there would be!".
