LIGHTFOOT CELEBRATION CD??
I'm excited to announce a big project I will be spearheading starting in early January. As many of you know I produce an annual series of concerts celebrating the music of Gordon Lightfoot. This year's show will take place January 15th, 16th & 17th, 2016 at Toronto's Hugh's Room. Tickets are now on sale and will likely sell out by early January. Call Hugh's Room in Toronto @ 416-531-6604 to reserve yours.
The biggest question I get from fans of these shows is: WHERE CAN I GET A CD COPY OF THE SHOW?? I've always answered that you can't, mostly because I don't think that live recordings do most shows justice. However, a studio recording of the best of the shows over the years is something I've always wanted to do. Mr. Lightfoot has given me permission to pursue the project and I've received conditional support from the following artists to appear on the CD: Ron Sexsmith, DALA, Oh Susanna, The Good Brothers, Cadence, Lori Cullen, Peter Katz, Kevin Fox, Justin Rutledge, Suzie Vinnick, Rick Fines and more. All I need to do is raise roughly $50,000 to properly make the recording, secure rights to all the songs, pay the artists a fair wage, design and manufacture the album, etc.
So in mid-January, to coincide with this year's Hugh's Room tribute shows I will be launching a 75 day crowdfunding campaign to try to raise the needed money. It will be an ALL OR NOTHING campaign: If we raise the money the album gets made, if we don't raise all of it any contributed money will get returned to crowdfunders.
