I previously started a thread at
http://corfid.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=14862
about this character and his rant about the very real profusion of Gord's Greatest Hits albums
in which he claimed
"1. Gordon Lightfoot issued 37 Greatests Hits Collections between the years 1966 and 1973.

2. During this period, he actually recorded 3 different songs."
and revealed a worrying fixation with Sylvia Fricker's cleavage
Yesterday I was trying to fnd details of the 1986 Ian and Sylvia Reunion concert and found yet another of his rants at
http://www.chromehorse.net/rants/rants2009/20091218_lovinsound.htm
In my previous thread I had said

I have just refound this thread that I started over nine years ago using an alternative member name. I got another giggle by rereading Mr Dyk's rant (that he seems to have deleted and it was not archived by the Wayback Machine so it's a good job I copied it into my message)
I thought it worth resurrecting for those who were not around at the time
(if you recall it and disliked it please move along to another thread pronto)
and I thought that the same conditions for resurrecting it applied
a little more diligent searching yesterday found
http://www.chromehorse.net/rants/rants1998/19980912_lightfoot.htm (http://www.chromehorse.net/rants/rants1998/19980912_lightfoot.htm)
so it had not in fact been deleted after all

As I had a reason for referring to Bill Van Dyk's almost true rant about the proliferation of Lightfoot "Greatest Hits" albums I googled for "Gordon Lightfoot rant Van Dyk".
In addition to finding the rant I wanted the search results included this corfid thread plus another rant about Ian and Sylvia with the inspiring image of her cleavage
http://www.chromehorse.net/rants/rants2009/20091218_lovinsound.htm (http://www.chromehorse.net/rants/rants2009/20091218_lovinsound.htm)
plus another thoughtful essay on the lyrics of Sit Down Young Stranger that I had not found during earlier searches and I found it was well worth a read so thought I should add its URL to this thread

it's gone again..
Very true Char it is yet another example of YouTube's inconsistant policing operation
If you go to their searchbox and look for "sctv gordon lightfoot", there are still three complete unexpurgated unbanned copies of this video extant uploaded by others
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZlrrwUIwcE
uploaded by alukuhito (who he?)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0MFwvWvjI8
uploaded by Vanessa Wlliams (unlikely!!)
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=utp2XYEPnYY
uploaded by nordiquesmith (a.k.a. Black Smith)
I also spotted and enjoyed another fine GL parody (as featured in an earlier thread but worth bringing to corfiddlers attention again a good larf as Char would say
Bullwinkle sings Gordon Lightfoot
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkN5HnMHXpc

Which gives a strong clue (as Val picked up in the earlier thread) for why Gord's music is published by Moose Music?!

Going back to my original thread starter and this current revival
I had a reason the other day for referring to Bill Van Dyk's almost true rant about the proliferation of Lightfoot
"Greatest Hits" albums so I had googled for "Gordon Lightfoot rant Van Dyk"
In addition to finding the rant I wanted the search results included this corfid thread plus another rant about Ian and Sylvia with the inspiring image of her cleavage
http://www.chromehorse.net/rants/rants2009/20091218_lovinsound.htm
plus another thoughtful, relaively serious essay on the lyrics of Sit Down Young Stranger that for me was well worth a read so thought I should add its URL to this thread
http://www.chromehorse.net/rants/rants2005/20051013_sitdown.htm
that page has a column on the left headed at the top
"About a book named for the song" which is a hyperlink to an expired web site
http://www.sitdownyoungstranger.com/
the internet archive however has preserved the site several times he last time quite recently on May 18 2014 see:-
http://web.archive.org/web/20140518131323/http://sitdownyoungstranger.com/
and it features a image of the book cover, Surprisingly the book is still on sale at amazon.com on a page that also displays that cover
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51hyEvd0z2L._SX332_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg
In addition the Amazon page has a link to "look Inside" which will let you see Page 1 which contains the complete song lyrics and ending
"- Gordon Lightfoot Reprinted with Permission"
