I was wondering what the difference between "Active Members" and just "Members" for the Gordon Lightfoot Forum Statistics near the bottom of the main page? I just think that the few Gordon Lightfoot web pages, each run by fans including this one, are fabulous. I could be wrong, and please tell me if I am but there isn't an official Gordon Lightfoot web page is there? Not that one is needed because the dedication and love given to this page and the two others is just fantastic. I don't feel that no official website could ever do any better. Good job everyone. And thank you.

This website has the only 'discussion forum' that goes back to the late 90's. FB has some chit chat but a lot gets lost as new topics get posted and not all replies are seen..It's a pain that way.. This site has the ability to look at older topics, see what is newly posted even if it's an old thread etc.
There are a lot of members here, some just read the posts and some actively participate in the discussions.
There's more here than polls where you vote on your favourite song/lyric by theme as seems to be the daily thing...
When Gordon is out on tour there's more new posts with photos from the road that Carter and Rick take and fans posting pics/videos/setlists etc..

First thanks for bday wishes David and char but let's let that slide down to the bottom of the forum, forevermore! I don't know if u got your answer about active member stats. If one hasn't lurked or logged in or posted in a year then maybe they are deemed inactive. The question surfaced before. Search engine is pretty good here

Great history on GL web stuff. John Fowles could assist. First site I came up was Matthew's. Now inactive it seems. And there are still great archives of Wayne's initial discussion forum going back almost 20 years now. It was a newsgroup format but I would access via déjà.com. It was alt.lightfoot.net I believe.

Wayne Francis from PEI is a terrific canadian songwriter and musician who has worked with Gord's people to establish and maintain the Gord site at www.lightfoot.ca. You will get lost in the wealth of tidbits there plus his own introjections about albums and the man himself. Few if us have had the pleasure of meeting him or Florian (corfid)

Everyone has met Queen char. Lol.

I love it when there a question or list or review perspective that we've never had in the decades on the net, or the 40 odd years of face to face discussion of Gord music or the various tribute nights that have been held from coast to coast or overseas, going back to the late 60s. Ron Jones is a someone you'd love to meet....the late Lynn Ackerman....there is quite a list!

David, here is a link to the old Lightfoot newsgroup discussions that go back about 19 years to 1995 on the internet

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/alt.music.lightfoot

search away - or browse (if you can spare 2 or 3 years, lol) ...it has been cluttered with spam postings the past few years... the format wasn't friendly, imo but certainly not as brain draining as the Facebook format...enjoy

Why is it even a concern?

I imagine as a new member/poster it's a question many might have and indeed HAVE had. I only wish I had an answer but I do know I've (as have all others who have replied to his posts) made Dave feel welcome to post/reply and ask whatever question he may have and I hope he continues to do just that..
