It is now over a week since I peronally and I suspect most other corfiddlers started being unable to open the corfid discussion forum from my usual bookmarks or the direct link on the corfid home page and it would appear today that nobody other than Martyn Miles (or is it Martin Myles??) in the UK and myself have been able to post any new messages or threads since August 13th.
All I get is the rather unhelpful http 404 error popup
telling me to go and cool my heels because "the webpage cannot be found"
and insinuating that I must have made one of my usual typos, definitely no true come on not 20/30 times in a row!
Earlier last week an ominous database access error (or something on those lines frequently
appeared)
Despite this I do not know how or indeed why Mr Miles succeeded when I had consistently failed but I found a subtle workaround and was then able to sign in then post an update regarding videos on youtube from the July 24th concert at BB Kings in New York. The direct (and working) address of my reply at this moment is:-http://red.olm.net/~corfid/vbb/showthread.php?p=182475#post182475

note the addition of a hosting website (olm.net from I believe Connecticut) to the usual format of a corfid message URL address and instead of the usual corfid.com is a tilde (~)then plain corfid with the dotcom omitted
this is in line with the URL I reached when I clicked a Google search result for known and remembered thread and having gained access to that thread I was able to open the usual forum table display, whose now working URL I promptly bookmarked and will provide at the end of this posting.
I was then able to sign in and succesfully replied to the BB King thread and as a test I then sent a Private Message to myself and verified that the corfid postmaster was still at work and awake as "he" then sent a copy of that PM to my registered mail address as usual.
All of this includi-ng the functioning link to the forum tables I have reported in two regular emails to Florian and Char but so far neither of them has responded to me, nor has either of them taken note of the successful method I used and told them about to post any sort of explanatory message so that everybody would know WIHIH (What In Hell Is Happenning)
My first thought this morning once I had seen no email response to my two emails to Florian and Char was that I could send a PM to all the currently regular and active members or send a third email to F and C suggesting that one of them should do so. but I then realised that because there is a limit (of 5 I think) recipients of a single corfid PM that would be too time consuming.
I then had the bright idea of sending a reply to the most recent two threads that had the most replies as then a large number of regulars who had posted to those threads and were therefore subscribed to them should recieve this note by regular email and this is what I am about to do.
I will then vet the list of responders and note any obvious omissions (including of course Florian himself who rarely posts and send them a PM with a working link to this message
There remains three things to say
Firstly I hope that something odd is not happenning to me only but the lack of postings since the 13th to me is clear proof that there really is a problem somewhere
Secondly any disparaging remarks from louts down under will be seriously frowned upon and considered as grounds for legal action.
Thirdly here is the crux of this posting to see the usual list of the four forums go to:-
http://red.olm.net/~corfid/vbb/index.php
which is the usual direct link of:-
http://corfid.com/vbb/index.php
but with the dotcom omitted from after the corfid and the hosting red.olm.net/ and a tilde (~) added in front of it
Similarly the bookmark I made was to the General Discussion Forum and is:-
http://red.olm.net/~corfid/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=3
Weird?? I should cocoa!!

Yes, you should.

I just happened to find another way here too. Been also getting that error pop up. I found some old thread on google, then signed in here.

great Patti
I was very relieved to find it was non just me because my reports to Florian and the usually attentive and prompt to respond Char have fallen on deaf ears and blind eyes!!
for those wondering
from the urban dictionary
"I should coco"

British phrase originating from the 30's. Rhyming slang for I should think so or I should say so. Used sarcastically so the literal translation is I should think not. Also spelled I should co-co and I should cocoa"

Well, I guess that makes three of us, so far.

Earlier this past week, I googled something like "what is up with the corfid lightfoot forum" and found this.

It's good to know I'm not alone, anyway.

Cheers!

I answered your rude e-mails John - As you have stated here and all over corfid - there was NO access to most of us including Florian and I repeatedly told you that he was on holiday and would have things running again on Monday - that is TODAY~!
