Driving back across Iowa last night. As we are all prone to do, I was listening to various stuff by Gordon. When It the mp3's shifted to Summer side of Life as always I look forward to the great guitar work in Miguel which I think has an almost classical/spanish guitar feel to it.

I then wondered how it would sound with only Carter on stage playing Miguel on the Harp guitar. I bet it would be terrific.

I know this won't happen, but Gordon at one time had Liona Boyd on tour as an opening act.

Any other ideas about songs that would make good solos for the band?

I'm sure Carter would do it justice..he has a beautiful touch and feel for Lightfoot tunes...he's really made them his own, especially now that he has his new geetar...

For reasons I could never put my finger on.....probably my favourite Lightfoot album.
Love all the tunes, however Cabaret always came to mind while heading to 'North Ontario' for another canoe expedition.

Effortless & beautiful.

Beautiful would indeed be nice to hear on that harp guitar

Effortless?? Could you hum a few bars?

How ironic on the youtube clip of this song that the only guitar work they feature is some of Rick's bass playing while Red Shea is doing such fabulous intricate work on lead guitar!

oh yes, check this thread out regarding the entire show...we speak of how unfortunate the editing choices are throughout...but again, not gonna complain:)

it's really Gord's picking (descending arpeggio?) and push timing that is the signature guitar work for me on Miguel.... Shea's fills are the gravy for me

it's stunning how Tim's (gordisking on youtube) cover tackles both parts:clap:

To clarify... When people do something so well it oftentimes appears smooth and effortless. It would not if I sang the song.
