View Full Version : IYCRMM performed on Letterman this week

I was watching an episode of "The Late Show" presented this week. Letterman introduced his next guest, Australian actor Simon Baker, and the CBS Orchestra welcomed him onto the stage with a partial performance of "If You Could Read My Mind". This was no doubt a reference to the subject matter of Baker's TV series "The Mentalist".

And today I was in a shop just before 1pm and the radio station they had on (Melbourne's Magic 1278AM) played Gord's recording of IYCRMM in full.

I can't view the whole show but just a clip but Simon is already seated. This might link to the whole show for those in the U.S. who want to watch - Jan.16 show http://www.cbs.com/late_night/late_show/

The intro is at 16:52, but you'll have to sit through a few commercials first.

Thanks for posting this, Dave.

However, I'm not impressed as Dave cancelled Gord's scheduled appearance on his show in 2010. If he was a real fan, he'd be hosting the real thing!!!

do i feel foolish, or what? i watched the show that night but I didn't hear the music on Simon's intro. dumb, dumb, dumb, or simply not paying attention. thanks for sharing that tidbit. I agree dave should host the real thing and get Gordon on soon!

There's a good chance it wasn't Dave, but the jerk who was doing the booking...a guy they fired earlier this week. Same guy who said he didn't book many female comedians, because "they're not funny".

I just learned that Cory Chisel, who grew up here in Appleton WI, will be on the Letterman show on June 4 with his band, the Wandering Sons. Cory is a nice guy, extremely talented, and just about the same age now that Gordon was when he first started to hit it big.

It should be worth tuning in, as long as Cory doesn't suffer the same Letterman "bump" that befell Mr.Lightfoot.

It turns out that Cory didn't get bumped, but his Letterman appearance has been moved to accommodate his tour schedule. The new date is July 10, so hopefully a lot of us will be watching, that is if we aren't too exhausted from celebrating Char's birthday :)

Maybe Cory can sing Happy Birthday of I'll Tag Along..either would be acceptable..

Just had a thought--wondered if Lightfoot might make an appearance in conjunction with the Songwriter's Hall of Fame....

Letterman tapes @5:30 ...I imagine things could be chaotic that day in New York with SHOF obligations/press etc.rehearsal, plus he has to head to Ottawa for a show the next night...
