Yes, I'd like to wish Lightfoot fans everywhere a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in song. Turn it up loud. Sorry, I couldn't come up with a Lightfoot twist to this one, it sort of called for an opposite style. Maybe next year ...

The very best of the Season to all.
Eat, drink and be Merry (that includes singing).

The kid and I finished mommy's surprise gift late last night.
It's part 2 to last year's effort. Bless you all...

So far, my Christmas has been a pretty good one. Had my sister & her crew over for lunch today & actually had a better than expected time. My dogs even enjoyed playing with their first Christmas gift, a rawhide chew bone. Best gift that I got was, oddly enough, a high dollar pastery brush. It'll come in handy whenever I go to butter a loaf of fresh baked bread or pan of fresh rolls.

Belated holiday greetings to all - and Happy New Year (didn't miss that one anyway.)

It's been a busy year. I've been working on family history a lot lately, having discovered the joys of searching a regional newspaper database that goes back to the 1870s. Next Christmas my siblings are each getting a flashdrive with as much family information as I can find, from newspaper ads for our grandfather's business to the wedding announcement for one set of our great, great grandparents (!)

Meanwhile we've been slowly cleaning out "stuff" from the house, starting with the kids' books and toys; they kept their favorites and we donated the rest to places as varied as the local ER and district attorney's office for their abused kids interview room, among others.

In September we completely remodeled the upstairs bathroom, first renovation since 1983. We did the gutting and a fabulous local contractor and his helper did the rest - and worth every penny. The next (and last) major remodel will be the kitchen but not for a few years.

In the very near future Rich will be retiring - woo hoo! 2012 is our year of travel. Our daughter is in Virginia (for now) so Rich is planning on driving down in late winter to visit for a couple of weeks. Then our son is gifting us with a trip to Las Vegas for his father's retirement +birthday in spring. After that, another road trip to Sault Ste Marie and Winnipeg to see his siblings. And - grand finale - a trip to England in the fall. The kids and I will be spending a week in London, followed by a week in the Skegness area, visiting my late mother-in-law's relatives. My husband will be staying behind for an additional month for extended visits with his aunts, cousins, etc. Our poor dog will be spending more time in a kennel than ever before; he may need therapy, lol. I expect 2013 will be our year to rest up.

It was an ok day, new years day.(was at one of my sister's). I posted on this thread - but then deleted it. Sorry if that bothered anyone, but I'm not used to being on corfid for quite some time, and might have to take a little time getting used to it again. Just got the internet hooked up at home today. It's been a couple years. So I hope things are going well for people here, and that this year holds many blessing for us. Peace.
