What a gem! THIS is the kind of stuff I'd love him to do now...debrief us...as with the concept of the "Storytellers" tv show (although that never seemed to pan out to be a real backstory themed show). I think Kristofferson did some of that while artist in residence at the Country Music Hall of Fame a while back.

I don't know the band dynamic, but a group discussion of how things were recorded would I think be an I portent historical record

fabulous! I was so entranced that I was startled when it ended. The art of songwriting has always bewildered me, so it was great to see a bit of how Gord writes a song. thanks for finding that.

It LOOKS like it could be a B-45-12, but he still had the blonde (natural) one in 1967. Plus it sounds like a 6-string. Could it be a Gibson Dove or Hummingbird 6-string? A writing guitar? Same body style and cherry sunburst finish as the 12-string.

Does Mr. Haynes know?

I've seen the pix of Gord with Dylan at Gord's house, where Gord is playing a Dove 6-string with a cherry finish, so you may be right about something other than a twelve string.....

I was startled when it ended

it was from an entire 30 minute show (the first that CBC produced in colour) called Telescope with Fletcher Markle - this episode: Lightfoot Forward

the Orillia bit char posted is another chunk from it - all leads up to the studio session with John Stockfish, Gord and Red Shea

when i uploaded the entire thing here a few years back, youtube soon after took away the audio and contacted me then removed the whole thing

but at least the short clip will live on at the CBC retro site so no need to panic:)

i sent a large file .mov version to some members (and maybe they can try upload with better luck) who requested it but the hard drive it was on spins no more...i'll re-digitize the beta version if the retro channel doesn't upload the rest of the show sometime soon....i wonder what suddenly prompted them to upload the segment...wonderful sharing, char!

i do think the Gord audio/video gems ran dry last year after the BBC '71 surfaced but what a way to go out:)

i was usually let down by every episode... well, relative to my excitement and anticipation beforehand, anyhow - the writing, the narrator, the repetitive panning of images, over-sensationalizing of any personal clashes, breakups, deaths...if they did one on Gord I wonder if they'd ever get to the music

as I've posted and dreamt several times, I always wanted to see a Classic Albums: The Making of __________ (you fill in the blank...Sundown, ODR, anything!)

dialogue and images of Gord and producer revisiting the master tapes at the mixing board isolating tracks and having fun with the mixes that might have been or tracks that were disregarded (such as some of the other Cathy Smith backing vox on Sundown)... and hopefully Gord chatting about how some of the songs came about...or other tidbits
