Cleveland newspaper has another poll for who should be in the "Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame"...

Go to "other" and put in Gordon Lightfoot.

Below is the link.

Assuming that foreigner's votes count I will lodge one in a min.
Come to think of it .... how could they not count mine if they count one from a lowly Denver native ?

"Other" now has 8.82% of the vote. I think we're making a dent! :)

I don't understand why disco queen Donna Summer would be thought of for entrance..nor 'folk' musicians for that matter..It's a Rock and Roll HOF. How does Lightfoot fit in there? I can see Neil Young because he actually has many rock tunes. Gord's toe-tappers aren't rock n roll tho. RUSH should be in there.
I'm all for Lightfoot music getting kudos but am I missing the point of who/what type of music should be in the R&R HOF?

I think of it as a place to honor musical talent from many different genres. At least that's what I wish it were. But you're right, Char, if it's strictly rock-and-roll, Gord probably isn't a very good fit.

It's called the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.. genre specific as far as I see/tell. Perhaps "MUSIC" Hall of Fame would be more apropos. But that's too broad ranging too...one persons music is another persons migraine.
lol

Very true.

But I think of someone like Johnny Cash, who is in the HOF, deservedly so, although I don't think that many people really consider him a rock-and-roller.

Or, to come at it from a different direction, Gordon is in the Canadian Country Hall of Fame, but I don't think of him as a country singer. What makes him so unique, and so worthy of recognition as an artist, is that his music defies pigeonholing. His work transcends any particular genre, and I think he deserves whatever accolades can be given, even if they may not seem to fit exactly.

Yea JC is in there and I question that too..lol
Even Gord can't figure why he's in the CCHOF...but hey..accolades are good!
But there are true R&R arists who deserve to be inducted soon..

Agreed, and hopefully while they're still alive, which is always nicer.
