Today I celebrated my 30th wedding anniversary. 30 years ago I walked down the aisle to Gordon Lightfoot's "Beautiful," and tonight driving home from our celebratory dinner, "Beautiful" came on the radio. Fitting song for a lovely evening. I was wondering if anyone else walked down the aisle to a GL song.

I was the best man at a friends wedding in the late 70's and played that song as they walked down the isle.
I'm pleased to say they're still together, and it was and remains..."Beautiful".

Happy Anniversary!

She did not use "Beautiful" as part of the ceremony, but my daughter used "As Fine As Fine Can Be" for her father-daughter dance and I had the dj use selected GL songs (as well as Dan Fogelberg, Harry Chapin and the like) for background music during cocktails and dinner. I am sure "Beautiful" was one, but I don't remember hearing it specifically.

Congrats on your anniversary Lisa. Hubby and I hit 30 next year. No Lightfoot music at our wedding, but plenty since. :)

Today I celebrated my 30th wedding anniversary.

Thirty years of being married is an amazing achievement. Congratulations to you and your husband.

I wanted to walk down the isle to a GL song so badly, but the priest insisted that only secular songs be used during the ceremony.

"Forgive Me Lord" hadn't been released at that time but if it had, the line "Remove these chains and set me free" would have served as a great omen regarding what was to come, lol!

Beautiful was played at me wedding too on 9/7/79 and a honeymoon on Georgian Bay.

Received a copy of the novel Don Quixote along with two pewter cast figures of DQ and Sancho Panza as a wedding present from my wife. 32 years and I still have all four (wife, novel, two figures)

GL is playing in Salamanca on September 10th. Looks/sounds like a sign to me.

Congrats on your long marriage too. And on keeping your wedding gifts from your wife! Have fun at your concert. I am still waiting to see what west coast concerts are in this year's offering.

Beautiful was sung by one of Maria's (my wife) friends as Maria walked down the aisle. The girl had a great voice by the way... she did it justice. Video cameras weren't out yet... wish I had a video of it.

It will be 34 years for Maria and myself....

You won't believe this though...

Maria and I have had ONLY one fight in 34 years....

And that one fight has lasted 34 years!

WoW! Congratulations to all those people in this forum who are above 20years of marriage! I am only 35 years old and been married for 5 years now. I hope we'll reach 30 years and more.

Jenny,

I guess in today's times, 5 years is a long time. Congratulations. We hope you make past 30 years too!
