this is one American who is pulling for Vancouver tonight. The Stanley Cup belongs in Canada. (unless, of course, the Av's are involved)

Hey guys.
Let me share something with you from where we live at the moment in downtown Vancouver.
Well, it's like Good Friday. I'm not kidding. Hardly a sound, anywhere.
Far cry from the noise we encountered when Vancouver won games in the beginning of the series.
At that time, the hoot and holler outside our place was like Massey Hall when Gord was making his final exit and fans were whooping like crazy for him to come back for an encore. Steady barrage!
Now, very mum.
In a way it's sort of like a reprieve for us as we can have an early night and get on with packing up stuff and get ready to head back and settle in Ontario for arrival in time for Canada Day celebrations in Aurora at the Legion Hall.
Word has it that there will be some Gord tunes in the program.
Guess now the focus will be in the direction of "The Leafs" (again).
Let the games begin,
Cheers, RJ.

A further update on the turn of events after the game ended.
Fortunately, where our place is located there is no mayhem as what now is being showed on the news.
It is mainly happening in an area in the heart of downtown, mostly in a localized area, and tragically it seems to be escalating.
There is looting etc. in some of the downtown stores and it really is very disappointing to see this happening in such a beautiful Canadian city.
Gord even made a reference when he played here that Vancouver was the most beautiful city in Canada.
Something surely has gone awry here as far as our "National Sport" goes and the controversy is endless over just what should be done.
I'm thankful that summer is finally here and we can lay the hockey season to rest for now.
RJ.

Hi Folks ,
I know it is not possible , (almost) to be a bruins fan and a Gordon Lightfoot fan,
but when i was 11 years old and facing major surgery as a kid (removed most of left lung)
the Bruins - Bobby Orr and such - who is from Parry Sound pulled me threw those days,
and at 52 it was great to see it one more time , The Canucks are a Great team with a lot of Superstars , and are a force to be reconed with in the future, I firmly believe that the aftermath of game 7 in vancouver does not represent 99.9 % of the fans of Hockey any where , - - there are some in every crowd no matter where you go ,
Mike ,
A Gordon Lightfoot fan and Bruins Fan

I rarely follow hockey. I'm just not interested in it. I like the Red Sox and the Celtics, and that's about it. But today I was watching news videos of all the celebrations in Boston, and looting in Vancouver, and I thought, "How can adult people justify acting like barbarians?" It just doesn't make sense to me, and it will only taint the way other people look at them. I'm sure all people in Vancouver don't act like those nut jobs that were burning things, tipping over cars and causing all that medlam. They sure don't do anything Vancouver's image.

the folks in Vancouver who rioted were a bunch of morons and like morons do they follow the leader..
one arse starts it up and the rest follow.
add in alcohol, youth, testosterone and bravado and the way news is flashed in a nanosecond it's a recipe for chaos. they'd have behaved that way regardless of a win or loss..morons, not hockey fans. happens all over for all reasons.
says more about them than the city.
hundreds more came out to clean up than did the damage.
