I found this pretty funny stuff.. Just the subject matter made me laugh..

some of the singers are unknown to me but it's funny for what it is.
IMHO!

That was funny. I have no idea where including GL on this list came from, but then he didn't get a lot of "support" in the comments.

As for my vote for most pompous, I would have to go back a few (well, many) years to Richard Harris on MacArthur Park.

I'd have to go with Phil Collins solo CDs. My younger sister bought every record that man put out, and played them over and over and over. Unfortunately, we shared a bedroom. Between him, and Michael Jackson's "Ben", I felt like throwing the record player over the bank, into the gully.

The late Lorne Greene singing/talking through "Ringo" (I think - it's been years.)

William Shatner singing(?) Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds comes to mind.

Don't think I'll ever hear a Billy Joel song again without remembering these very funny comments, lol!:)

billy joel has more of what we call down here a "mario" voice, especially when he does his more rocking songs. i still love it!

in the film Grease, picture the boys in their hotted up cars.

or Robert DeNiro has a similar accent

OK; a voice that sounds "tough" or "streetwise".

That was funny!

Frankly I think the idea of trying to judge 'the most pompous voice" is itself rather pompous, but I was really struck by " this guy (Lightfoot) *sounds* like he knows more about whatever he’s singing about than anyone in the room, and in a way i don’t like."

So these guys aren't pompous because none of them seems to know what he's talking about! (and in a way I find sadly amusing)

Err Umm
Some women chanteuses can be pompous too!!
My own particular unfavourites being
Ethel Merman (Call Me Overbearing and LOUD!!)
Liza Minelli (That's Lisa with a stoopid "Z" "Zed")
and her unbearable Mother (Judy)
who should have been banished to a sodden rainbow
And as for male "singers" my vote goes to the, oh dear, Canadian Shatner
He should have been banished to outer space long ago!!
Your Shout Stationmaster!!!
I am surprised that Cathy has yet to chime in wih her pet peeve the Canadian Belter Celine!!!!

Me again with second thoughts
The most pompous male singer has to be the late great Peter Sellers here taking the urine out of that Liverpudlian group who were mildly famous a few years back

Having just learned that,oh dear oh dear, she does a duet of the Everly's classic "Let It Be Me" with Rod Stewart on his latest CD, I must add that I find Jennifer Hudson to be insufferably pompous.
She did not even actually win the Simon Cowell Idle show after all!!
