View Full Version : Young Artists for Haiti - Itunes
a nice tune and video put together as fund raiser by young Canuck artists
can download the video or song for $2 from Itunes which goes to the cause
i see Jim Cuddy and Tom Cochrane contributing...it sure would have been nice to see GL (on tour or EMP probably unaware) in there inspiring those youngsters
i really dont know anything about Knaan but its his tune....Wavin Flag
wee Beaver, err, Beiber closed out the video...he also started off the We are the World remake...that was a let down, imo but nice of the artists to give their time
btw, also contributing to the Wavin Flag effort was the young guy (Jacob) singing lead for one of the Olympic closing ceremony performance rock bands (Hedley) and was also the dude who sang the alt version of Sundown during that Canadian Idol Lightfoot tribute night a few years back...not sure of NBC showed this or Alanis, Avril, etc
...So many wars, settling scores,
Bringing us promises, leaving us poor,
I heard them say, love is the way,
Love is the answer, that's what they say,
But look how they treat us, Make us believers,
We fight their battles, then they deceive us...
here is the video..such a nice Bob Ezrin production, good segue of voices, so consistent...that Nikki Yanofsky sure has a great tone, she and Beiber make me feel real old..wait, they ALL make me feel old, lol

here are the artists: (i couldn't place the faces to names for many when i first saw it)
(All)
when I get older I will be
stronger they’ll call me freedom just
like a wavin’ flag
(K’naan)
Born to a throne
Older than rome
But violent prone
Poor people zone
(Nelly Furtado)
But it’s my home,
all I have known
(Sam Roberts)
where i got grown
but now its gone
(Avril Lavigne)
Out of the darkness
in came the carnage
threatening my very survival
(Pierre Bouvier of Simple)
fractured my streets
and broke all my dreams
(Tyler Connolly of Theory of a Deadman)
now feels like defeat
to wretched retreat
(All & Kardinal Offishall)
(so we struggling)
fighting to eat
(and we wondering)
if we’ll be free
Jully Black:
we cannot wait
for some faithful day
it’s too far away
so right now I say
(All)
when I get older I will be
stronger they’ll call me freedom just
like a waving flag
and then it goes back (3x)
Wahhhoooh
(Lights)
so many wars
settling scores
(Deryck Whibley of Sum 41)
all that we’ve been through
and now there is more
(Serena Ryder)
I hear them say
love is the way
(Jacob Hoggard of Hedley)
love is the answer
that’s what they say
(Emily Haines of Metric)
but were not just dreamers
of broken down breathers
(Hawksley Workman — known as Hawksley Workman)
a hand will reach us
**don’t understand**
(Drake)
they can’t control us
no it can’t hold us down
(Chin Injeti)
we gonna pick it up even though we still
(Pierre Lapointe)
strugglin
- french translation
and we wondering
- french translation
(Esthero & Corb Lund)
who patiently wait
for some other day
(Esthero & Fefe Dobson)
that’s too far away
so right now I say
(All)
when I get older I will be
stronger they’ll call me freedom just
like a waving flag
and then it goes back (3x)
Wahhhoooh
when I get older I will be
stronger they’ll call me freedom just
like a waving flag
and then it goes back (3x)
Wahhhoooh
(Drake)
how come when the media stops covering
and it’s a little help from the government
and we forget about the people still struggling
and soon then it’s really all love again
nah see we don’t have to wait for things to break apart
if you weren’t involved before
it’s never too late to start
you probably think that it’s too far to even have to care
well take a look at where you live
what if it happened there
you have to know the earths to make a change lies within
and we can be the reason they see their flag rise again
(Nikki Yanofski & Drake)
when I get older I will be
stronger they’ll call me freedom just
like a waving flag
and then it goes back (3x)
Wahhhoooh
when I get older I will be
stronger they’ll call me freedom just
like a waving flag
and then it goes back (3x)
Wahhhoooh
(Justin Bieber)
when I get older
when I get older
I will be stronger
just like a wavin flag…

btw, Yanofsky performed a stellar version of The Rankins 'Rise Again' at the Paralympic Opening Ceremonies...that and the Terry Fox tributes were real authentic moments...Aimee and Chantal were nice to see and hear...plus, the flame lighting and hydaulics went off without a hitch:)
CTV tape delayed coverage to seems discriminatory...then again I suppose this is how NBC delivers the 'able-bodied' Olympics to its nation...but i do find it stressful going about town trying to avoid the wheelchair curling results;)
not to derail, but Happy Pi Day to all
