I vaguely remember reading/hearing about this a good while back. Can anyone confirm this?

GL mentions it in this clip. His mom talks about his first record he cut while in school. GL goes on to say that he began singing in a local dance band. His job was drumming and singing "like a very early Ringo Starr."
