Lightfoot represented the story of the first spike being hammered in, which began the Canadian transcontinental railway back in the 1800's. Taped @ Confederation Centre For The Arts, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island... CANADA ~1989~

nice of you to share for any and many who hadn't seen...we miss Pierre, eh
you could digitize from the vcr directly? (paging mr fowles).... it looks like it's being filmed from tv screen ...looks like this disappeared from the cbc archives

Yes indeed jj it probably has disappeared from the CBC archives because for this program I had written to CBC in 1989 to see if I could purchased it. Knowing about Gord appearance on FPC from someone telling me, I had not even seen that particular program because in the final years of FPC they would bounce that show on many different time slots and I could not keep up with it until I had missed the show.
I do miss it along with Fred Davis, Pierre Berton, Betty Kennedy, even Gordon Sinclair in the early years...
And indeed they did send it right away the courrier van was in my drive way a few days after they received my letter, there was a $20.00 charge for the tape & it also contained a copy of the artwork that you see @ the beginning of the show done by Vicky Land which was autographed by Mr. Lightfoot to her saying... {With Love, Gordon Lightfoot} on the top of the page but you cant see it here on this photo copy that I had posted here on another thread some years ago.

But many other CBC/CTV...aso programs that Lightfoot was in that I tried to purchased from them didn't work. One that I would have really like to get was the 1976 Olympic Team Benefit hosted by Gordy w/ guest; Liona Boyd, Sylvia Tyson & Murray McLauchlan. I have the 1980 Olympic Tribute... bought my first VCR in 1980.
And yes I dont know the correct way to upload them to You Tube other than video tape them from the screen with a digital camera, which doesn't do a fair job @ all.
thanks for the kind words jj... :)
neat story jjo, way to persevere...they used to show old reruns of FPC on the DOC(CBC/NFB) channel...you can see Bruno Gerussi (sp) in the crowd while GL is playing, eh
the host (Fred) and the entire panel are deceased except for Betty Kennedy, who lives 10 minutes west of me...long live the Via!
check if your camcorder has analog in....just plug your composite cables ( red white yellow) from vcr into it if so and your camera tape will have a digitized version you can pull into your computer as a file...of course there are video capture cards of all sorts real cheap now...i don't know how to capture from a dvd or i could share more stuff...i think they make it difficult on purpose...keep the goodies coming:cool:

That is what I most like about it for those of us who have seen it to see it again & especially those who never saw it to be able to view the man and his accomplishments through the years. ;)
Thanks Char :)

Yes indeed jj it is Bruno Gerussi enjoying CRT in front row. I do not have a camcorder, simply a digital camera that works really good other than taping from a TV screen. lol
I just got off the phone with some camera/video experts and I now know what should be done with the equipment I have. Don't know if I really want to bother with that, but thanks anyway for your suggestions.
So you're living about 10 minutes from Betty Kennedy... cool!!
yeah, she is on our local walk of fame (it is a short walk, lol)
i forgot bruno was not only in audience but also on the panel that night
gordon sinclair was absent (may have been up late with pierre the night before) lol

that is not a bad dual purpose camera, congrats and enjoy:clap:

Just watched gord singing "I'll Tag Along" again and noticed he changes the first line from the original. "You got time for whats to do with us"?!!! beautiful song though.

Wow! What great video. Lightfoot on Front Page Challenge commemorating the last spike with Pierre Berton on the panel. I don't know how it gets more Canadian than that!
Thanks so much Jesse Joe for making that available.
