Oh cool! Thank you for posting this. I just saw the movie for the first time a few days ago. It deserved better reviews than it got. And the part where this song came in (for the second time) at the end of the movie worked perfectly. Just a good, old fashioned Western. Some of those screen shots of the Northwest were stunning.

Saw this movie at the theater in 1981 or thereabouts. Very nice song. Thanks for posting this.

That's cool Jeese!

I've had the movie myself for 5 & 1/2 years now but I never tire of it. :)

Same here Borderstone I have it on DVD/ VHS/ and the french version which is my least favorite, because it's not Gord's voice.

I agree Misty I wish he had recorded this beautiful love song & even if the movie was a flop I agree w/ Borderstone, that I never get tired of watching it. I guess it's partly because Gordy is in it... :)

Jessie Jo,

Thanks for the find and the post.

By downloading and saving the youtube video.. then using any audio converter. (freeware)
A mp3 can be made of it

Just did it..
Can't seem to attach it....
Maybe John knows how to attach a mp3 file here.

It's certainly not an oscar worthy film but I love it anyway. I thought he was great in that part! The bath tub scene is priceless...

I remember Sir John had place a pic of that scene in some thread here, after a little search I found it.

Sorry Kevin but basically you can't. But see the list of allowable file types that appears when you click "manage attachments" under the reply box. This will reveal a workaround because
that list does include zip files *.zip up to a maximum of 5MB
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFOOT/images/attachments.jpg
so if your existing mp3 is under that limit simply zip it!!
or reencode the mp 3 at a lower bitrate to sneak in under 5MB
how do you zip it??
you may already have one of the non free zipping programs installeed such as Winzip
If not I can thoroughly reccomend a nice freeware alternative I use a lot called jzip
http://www.jzip.com/jzip_free_zip_software_images/logo-up.gif
which you can download from (you'd never guess!!)
http://www.jzip.com/
No doubt you can then fathom out how to use it.
TIP
I just found that I downloaded n mp3 of MLFY I know now not from where but it was most likely from a link in a corfid thread a high quality (192 KBPS) mp3 back in September
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFOOT/images/MLFY%20MP3%20details.jpg
And when I was so bold as to right click on the file name bingo!! as you can see
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFOOT/images/MLFY_jzip.jpg
Ah ha now I remember, silly me I actually downloaded it from my own website:-
http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFOOT/Extra_Rare/My_Love_For_You.mp3

just right click on that link then "Save Target as" or words to that effect

Thanks John,

I had thought about that after I read what kind of attachments were allowed.

I post the mp3 as a zip file if I get the clearance from Char.

Thank you Jesse Joe for posting this. As all of us I believe, I feel it is a great oversite to not have this gem recorded. While the iron may not be hot for striking for a 1981 +- movie, as is the song timeless, so would recording it be...timeless, as is all his music. The Man's vocal range was at its greatest maturity here on those low end notes; many baritones could not hit that bottom end. Long Live Gord and my friends in corfid !

I strongly agree with his voice being at his best here Geo Steve. This would have been 1980-81, two years before he quit the booze.

He has always said in interviews that when he stopped drinking his singing voice got better... But one (like me) cant help but wonder. :)

Hey Misty. I remember John Fowles from the old forum. Were you in it too. I missed that for so long. And never knew why it just went away. I always thought maybe I said something wrong. I always think everything is my fault! Anyway, so glad to find a new place to share my love for GL's music. I get to see him again in Nashville on March 6. So happy. Well, anyway. talk to you later.

I think I remember Char too! My old brain still does work

and imo, an even more beautifully arranged version when he performed it on the Genies a few decades back...a guitar picking cover version would also be welcomed

if you are playing in C, if you arpeggiate the standard C F G chords you will find the gist...Am Dm as you move along...the E major (instead of standard Em) is noteworthy, no pun intended

i remember picking up a copy of the film in a vhs loonie ($1) bin...i watched it (with a sideways look on my face throughout) then decided to send it off to char for filing in her GL museum for ever more...and erased it from my mind, also forever more:cool:
