Hi,

I'm a brand new member but have been reading the posts on here for awhile now. I grew up listening to my Dad's Lightfoot records and now I play his stuff to my 2 yr. old daughter. She loves Hangdog Hotel room and yells to me "More Lightfoot! More Lightfoot!"

He's my favorite lyricist and his music's always been magic to me. I fell under his spell again when I saw him play in Vancouver this April. I just found out that I am working out in Toronto later this month and was thrilled to see the dates coincide with him playing at Massey Hall. I was even more thrilled to call up and still be able to get tickets today.

So that's it. Just wanted to share how excited I am to be seeing him play on his home turf. Can't wait. Woohoo!!!!!

Hi,

you'll need to be wearing a button or shirt that IDs you plus seat#, SIN, healthcard, etc...it's a condition of attendance (jk:) )... interesting taste the kid has...for some reason i my own was subjected to more recent recordings and he came to like Fly Blind, Couchiching, Boathouse...you know, the baseball announcer type voice

anyhow, when he reached 5, i was on a trek with him and had brought the Sundown cd along...i jumped to the title track as we hit the highway and asked if he liked that ringing guitar feel...he surprisingly asked who it was...I said, "haven't you ever heard this song on the radio before, it's Gordon Lightfoot!"

he said "that doesn't sound like Gordon Lightfoot...I like his 'old' voice better"

will the daughter be in attendance?

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody.

The "House of Gord"...lol. I love that.

jj, unfortunately the daughter will not be in attendance. Maybe next time if he comes back to Vancouver to play.

I'm counting the days now...2 more weeks!

that's ashamed, Jenn...i was thinking of bringing my own

...just in case he were to grow impatient and his child voice became audible and disturbing for other attendees, well, i was hoping to be able to have somewhere else to point:cool:

I can just see the expression on Harry's face when he said that..

well i'm getting to large to be able to slither down and out of sight:cool:

there is a short list of 6 who could be my other half...one wears a 10 gallon hat...that would be unfortunate for the person seated behind....lol

does mcveighs have a kiddie menu w/toy? does massey have a romper room?

if the concert were tonight i'd be booed for a constant coughing hack..question: what does the H and N stand for in the h1n1? elements? well anyhow, pig flu rolls off the tongue alot easier, imo

safe travels for Jenn and all for biz purposes + 2009 tour home stretch:clap:

what does the H and N stand for in the h1n1?... jj

Im not trying to be smart here, this is the Google answer !

It stands for Hemagglutinin and Neuraminidase. The Hemagglutinin is the neutron standing in the place of the typical M1. The Neuraminidase is another Neutron which in habitually instabilities your nervous system.

In short: Hemagglutinin and Neuraminidase

Hey there! I can understand your excitement about seeing Gordon. I got to see the man when he was here in '08 & it was fantastic. I framed my ticket stub, along with a flyer that I got when I bought my ticket, & hung it on my wall. Still get a warm glow every time I look at it. :)

You mean the M1 {lol} that stands for Massey like in Massey Hall the # 1 concert hall in Toronto. I dont know what it means, your guess is as good as mine.

But you most likely will found it on Google...or better yet ask Yuri, doesn't he work in medicine ? He's got a Gordon Lightfoot pill ready for all people not being Lightfoot fans to take immediately.

We're lucky here we wont have to take it.

That's great to hear TT, anything of Lightfoot that I have framed in here also gives me a warm something every time I look @ it. Not sure that it is a glow, but something similar. ;)

BTW you guys I have second row center tickets for April 03 @ The Coliseum. I will be able to watch his fingernails plucked those Ernie Balls strings, also see if there are any scratches on those 2 beautiful Gibson B 45's, the D18 and/or that McGlincy. Im really happy with those tickets, couldn't manage to get front row. The early bird catches the worm. :)

It's kind of funny that the second time I saw Lightfoot in concert was @ the Coliseum 1990 also April 03.

Hi Jesse-Joe,

You might remember that I've posted a couple of times. In response to your news about 2nd row seats, I just had to mention (in my excitement) that I called early enough to get front row tickets at the Moncton Coliseum!

If this happened when I was 15, I would have been ecstatic. But hey, I'm STILL just as ecstatic! .... Maybe I'll see you there.

Louise

You called at what time Louise ?

Louise

I think it was around 10:00 or shortly after ....? I tried online first, but had problems and so called in. I'm not right in the centre though .... I'm a little off to one side. So your view may be better than mine!

The reason why I was asking is that tickets were supposed to go on sale @ 10:00am sharp; 11/06/2009.

So I decided to go the Coliseum box office instead of trying on line or calling like I did in 2007. I was there @ 9:15 am there were 2 ladies with their box office windows open so I went over and said Im here for Gordon Lightfoot tickets she said sure, I was quite surprise.

And @ that time there was only 2 front row centre available, and before I could snatch them someone on the internet took them.

But Im pretty sure you wont be disappointed with yours. :)
