Oprah put some of her muscle (ie. bucks) behind the film in the hopes that many will see this...she was in town for the Int Film Fest last week along with Mariah (borderstone should be first in line to see her non-Glitter role), MJ Blige plus the young unknown star...not sure if Lenny Kravitz made it also

based on the not-so-feel-good novel Push...last year's fan's choice award winner here was the Slumdog movie...could be some Oscar foreshadowing

i prefer the slightly less deep features...recently got back from the eye feast, Cloudy with Chance of Meatballs...they've really got that 3D stuff quite sharp, real eye candy indeed, plus a few chuckles, nice pace, coulda been shorter...the kids/grandkids should dig it...i stayed for the neverending credits (in 3D also) and noticed no less than 26,000 people were behind this feature...although i didn't notice Oprah's

I agree with what you say jj, that Oprah is some powerful woman in her own ways. I remember when she had Barrack Obama on her show. Not all people at that time including me knew who this guy was.

And when she decides that a book is a good read, it makes the author feel really great. $$$

hi jjo, i've not seen much of those daytime talk shows but when i've caught bits they sure do have a lot of energy and you can tell their is a huge following (same with that Ellen show)

i should have said it's not just Oprah's bucks but her powerful contacts and ability to use her show and magazine to pump something or someone up that makes anyone who has her on board and instant winner

a lady who was over here the other day had been at the festival and said she got to see Oprah from about 10 feet away and she still hadn't recovered from that moment...and she said she even got to see Gayle! i told her i had no idea who she was but that i was happy for her, lol ...waiting around in crowds to see glimpses of celebs is not my thing at all but i'm real happy for those that are into it and have success after the long wait...i'm glad there were no terrorist threats or other nonsense during the festival (other than colin ferrel pushing some reporter, which was probably more than deserving, lol)
