Lightfoot to perform at Opera House

One of the Sunshine City's brightest lights is coming back to his hometown to perform.
On Tuesday, the city's department of culture and heritage, along with Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, is holding a press conference to announce a performance by Gordon LIghtfoot.
Details ahead of the formal announcement are few.
Lightfoot's last performance in Orillia was a memorable one at the 2007 Mariposa Folk Festival when he completed his set despite thunder, lightning and pouring rain.
In the fall of 2002, Lightfoot was scheduled to play two benefit concerts for Soldiers' Memorial at the Opera House. Before the second concert, he suffered an abdominal hemorrhage that left him in a coma for nearly two months. He made a brief appearance on the Mariposa Folk Festival stage in 2004 and played one song during a tribute to his music. That was his first public performance since the aneurysm two years previously.
Look for full details of Lightfoot's upcoming performance in next Wednesday's Packet & Times.
