buying tickets

How are tickets sold out before they go on sale. Tickets for Leonard Cohen in Ottawa were to go on sale a 10 am March 2. I tried to buy tickets at 10 am but they seem to be sold out. I assume the tickets our sold before the general public to friend of NAC etc. It seems for popular shows you need to join as a friend of something. Anyone else had similar experiences. I did find tickets in Kingston about a 2 hour drive.

Thanks for bringing the thread to my attention seems my problem is pretty widespread and the average fan is having trouble buying tickets at reasonable prices. Hopefully Lightfoot makes it back to Ottawa before to long he has a large fan base in Ottawa
