Mentioned this song sometime ago and while I figure it's kind of saying gold or even money isn't everything I still have to wonder what was the inspiration for the song and wonder if any California's might of taken offense to the song when it was released?

You never know people get funny about these things.

Look what happened to Niel Young when he wrote Southern Man and another southern song about Alabama.

Well, it's still a good song and someone probably did take offense...there is always someone that gets offended by something...lol. It seems to be human nature to do so.

I don't know the genesis of "All the Gold in California"
My mother loved Larry's music both as a solo and with his brothers . I've listened and enjoyed all his music over the years. Larry was to my mother much as Gordon is to me.
it's kind of ironic as the initials are GL and LG. Like many artists what becomes the biggest hit may not be your or my personal favorite. Which is the case with "All the Gold"
Larry, Rudy and Steve put together some terrific music. A new album is about to be released. I always thought of Larry as being a very talented. Some of his songs would tear at your heart, the way Gord's do. If you get a chance look up and listen to "Penny Annie" on Rhapsody. The Gatlin Brothers harmony was always World Class. They do a wonderful acapella version of "Alleluia".
