Gordon Lightfoot and the folk revival

Broadcast Date: Nov. 8, 1991

'Your songs are our songs,' says CBC Radio's Peter Gzowski to Canadian folk singer Gordon Lightfoot. Having penned and recorded such classics including The Canadian Railroad Trilogy, Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and Early Mornin' Rain, the composer from Orillia, Ontario became the quiet leader of the folk music movement in Canada. In this Morningside interview, Lightfoot shyly describes his writing process and modestly chats about his early mentors Ian and Sylvia Tyson and Bob Dylan

It was great to listen to this. There were many common themes and questions that were covered again around the 1998 time frame when Peter Gzowski interviewed Gordon again during a television program. That was a great video. I can't seem to find that video tape, but it was a great interview that also included Gord playing Drifters, Painter and Restless as well. What a great treasure that was!
