Wow, this is the closest to the voice of Gord I've ever heard. He picks a fine guitar as well. Would love to hear him do a twelve string number.
Thanks so much Jesse Joe for providing this for our enjoyment. Ron J.

Your more than welcome Ron, his 6 string looks like a Martin with a Dean Markley wooden pick up. Im kind of waiting for a 12 string in one of his future videos ? :)

Of course, Gordon has a knack for writing lovely songs. :)

Thanks for the invitation Jessie Joe. I will certainly take a look. I appreciate the kind words.
I have just dusted off my guitar after not playing much for a few years. I hope to improve with time, and will post more as long as there's someone who'll listen.

Anne if ever you hear Gordon Lightfoot sing "Go My Way," on the Album "Summer Side Of Life"...(1971) You will see that Brian sounds very close to the Poet Genius himself. :)

Hi JJ
Mike from ottawa here no this isnt Fred Werthman (the mp3 I sent way back when). I eventually did send the entire album that we recorded to him in mp3 format and it was the only copy he had.
Unfortunately both my laptop and music computer crashed within months of each other and I lost most of my music projects, including all the original recordings from 2006. backups backup and backups.
So when I get the time I go back and copy the cd's I ve recorded for others download them to my pc.
here is my email info countrylane_music@yahoo.com
take care
that's ashame, Mike....such fine work you put into those recordings and I'm sure a slew of other artist's works...I know the digital let down feeling, ugh!
I had about 100 hours (of 125 hour max storage) of musical recordings on my PVR, some of which I downloaded to DVD but most lost when the thing crashed
i think we need to all go back to reel to reel, lol
i wonder if i ever forwarded that particular mp3 of Fred to char? she is a archive genius and may have it still...i can't remember filename or tune
btw, that's a really wonderful version of YLR, Brain....thanks jessi:)

Hello JJ.
The collaboration was suggested by Joe after we had been commenting back and forth on our videos. He did the arranging and editing (I'm no tech.) I sent him a recording via "Transfer Big Files, (don't use it, it had a virus) and he somehow overdubbed the rest. I was jazzed to see and hear it. I would love to do more with him, but I don't know if he has the time. He is quite popular in Bavaria I believe, and deservedly so. I do know he had a skiing accident a while back, and endured a slow recovery. It's nice to see him back. Perhaps a request would nudge him along? Hopefully, we will do more someday, as several people have asked. He is a very nice gentlemen.
Take care,
Brian

Yes, it's my Grandmother's upright Ivers and Ponds piano. Someday, I hope to play well enough to put something up, but not yet.
I hope you had a Merry Christmas and have a great New Year.
BTW, did you see the "Thursday" video. I had never heard that song before you mentioned it, but I really like it.
Brian
thank you for the well wishes and for delivering my request so wonderfully, Brian! i only just heard it now after your headsup
yeah, you'd swear that Croce or Gord had written that one...i'd love to have hear Gord also cover it in his 'baritone' era...actually, Gord has paid tribute to many peers in covering their tunes and it wouldnt be too late to hear him slip it in a live set as an indirect and reciprocal type of tribute to Jim...well, ok, the chances of this are slim and nil, the latter being more likely
btw, if you haven't come across this thread that Deb started a while back, there are some neat links and 'Thursday' tidbits found throughout

Thanks JJ for bringing this up for us to see and hear.
I'm not savvy keeping up with all the stuff that's out there but having you on board with your expertise sure is a plus for all who come here to catch all the great things that are happening in our world of Gord tunes.
This particular video shows it very well. It's much like the original sound that we would hear live in Massey Hall when it was just Gord, John and Red up there sounding out those notes. And of course anyone who was there at that time would surely connect with what's going on here with Brian and friends.
Brian's voice just nails it like none other than Gord's. I've never heard a closer one than his.
Truly great stuff.

03-29-2011, 10:34 PM
I have purchased every album that Gord ever made, as well the the songbook compilation. I have spent hours lying on my rec room floor between my 100 watt speakers with Gord cranked up as loud as i dared. I have attended too many concerts to count and had the honour of meeting Gord backstage in Ohio. I mention this only to add credence, when i say that Brian E. is amazing!! He has obviously done his homework and has the guitar playing sounding exactly like Gord. His voice has all the Lightfoot intonations down to a science!! Kudos to Brian!! Of course i can tell the difference but when i clicked on one of his covers in here the other day, my wife thought it was really Gord...awesome
You should check out his original also. He has more also
I can't seem to embed the video so it's easy to miss it
Anyhow glad you dig but I don't see him as imitator ( or mr Stinson) rather I just think they have similar stylings and tones with Gord obviously being an influence. I think Croce also comes through, as does Ekard
I hope Ron jones sets up a YouTube channel someday also and puts up some of his samplings of unique style that like John and Brian and some others in the crowd, have a love of Lighfoot emitted with every phrase
having Brian going into studionthe past few months as well as that BBC gem surfacing, has been a real treat for those who long for a resurgence of "the voice".. I hope john also gets into a studio sometime. I do recall Mando myk playing me a recording of a fella who was also delivering these good tones but can't trace him down and neither could myk
There are no shortage of excellent singers out there but only a small handful have been gifted with a "voice" :)

Blimey! He sounds just like Lightfoot! Thanks Jesse for sharing this one.
I some cases I think Brian sounds better than Gordon. Examples: "Too Much To Lose" & "My Love For You"... I also love "Cup of Tea" with Brian & Charmaine. It's just the sweetest thing! I've got a Brian board on my Pinterest page. No Gordon board yet.... I think Brian & friends (our Jimmy J, Bob & Charmaine are incredible together! Does anyone know the name of the other guitar player?)
Does anyone know if Brian has any CDs out? He has, hands down, the absolute best voice, IMHO. I LOVE IT.
