I've noticed on the 'forums page' that the number of 'Active Members' fluctuates. Before I posted this, the page showed 1,925 members and 107 'active members'. What is the criteria to be an 'active member' ?

Just curious.

i always thought "active" means that they're actually browsing the site right now

Im not Florian but I would guess that active members are those who post regularly... daily, weekly... aso ! :)

i was guessing that because on another forum that i post on, an active user is one thats online at the moment

Welcome to our newest member, jntn

In this screen copy we see the category "currently active users" which right now is just me "BILLW".

I'm assuming that "active members" is a time criteria set somewhere, e.g. "posted within the last 90 days" or something along those lines.

That was my thought also. I was just curious what the exact time frame is. I assume someone could not have posted for 3 years, then decide to post, and would become "active" again.

I think "active users" refer to the number of viewers of the site. If I'm just browsing, then I am a "guest". If I log-in to post, then I become a member "active user".

This is of absolutely no importance. I WAS JUST CURIOUS !

Yeah, myself I would consider a person to be an active member if they were posting at least once a week.
