In Char's topic about comparing Lightfoot to an American singer, she tried to find one who paralelled what he's all about musically and respectfully.

It made me think, what public figure (past or present) that isn't in show business does he sometimes remind you of?

First one in my mind was Abraham Lincoln, mainly becuase Gordon is a down to earth kind of man who still holds his values close to heart. How many folks in this day and age, especially someone famous, still live in their hometown and attend their local church?

I'll say Obama also, mainly because Gordon is pretty straight forward about things, without being obnoxious about it.

Now,tell me who comes to your mind too. :) Thanks! ;)

I would have to go with comedian Steven Wright. He tells corny jokes too. For example :

"When I woke up this morning my girlfriend asked me, 'Did you sleep good?' I said 'No, I made a few mistakes.' "

He tells corny jokes too

yeah, corny at best

doesn't Wright count as show biz? a tough game, a narrow field

fine company... Lincoln, Obama...Gord would be flattered...maybe one day Barack will be added to Rushmore as well

or even in hindsight, Bush or Bush Jr....a chip off the old block
