Thanks for posting this song, Jesse. That was the first time I ever heard this song. That's some nice music. I think he likes those rapids.

Patti - oh Patti if you don't have Songbook - the 4-Disc Anthology, even if you own all 20 -odd studio releases now, the 18 (i THINK) OTHERWISE UNAVALALABLE SONGS - producer's demo's, 'basement' tapes. etc. - he recorded - they are worth it alone....

'my all-time 8 ( was 6 !) favourites now includes 2 of those rarities songs - -
1 .) 'Always on the Bright Side' - ask jj about why he and I like that song - (it'll play in your head all day....) - lyrics like 'though 2 shipwrecked eyes' - wow. and,,
2.) 'Never Say Trust Me' (the Formica (USA) and Arbourite(inferior Canadian product) counter-top and knock-down furniture kits 'song" - lol -(ther is a long story and joke in there - its a great song,,,) ask SheryKat if'n ya don't believe me (and SHE likes it too) or Char, too, or for anybody loves the Beatles 'Twist and Shout' (does not sound like it, just is mentioned in it)

- &/or who owns plastic laminate countertops, backsplash and wit or w/o waterfall edge or not....you MUST have 'Never Say Trust Me' ( lol - and for all the right GL song reasons, too !) - and I'd Include 'Stone Cold Sober' - _(it was daylight in October) - classic Lightfoot phraseology . no - the Songbook is a must have - I've seen it down to about 39 - $45 dollars at the good end - 59 at the bad.

And, after awhile, it gives you a whole new appreciation for listening to each ENTIRE album - like getting to finish the rest of 20 different movies you saw 30% of in a 20-movie marathon Highlghts DVD - think of it that way too, and it takes a giant . true +/- 10 for everone - 'greatest hits' - 88 songs - CD - with 18 songs you've likely never heard unless you have an old Chateau Record from '63 for just 2 of 'em (reeeeal rearities) that makes you appreciate both a real greatest hits - which we all know would never fit on one CD, and then provides a greater appreciaition for the entire body of work, and a desire to relisten to each album in completion. !

You've probaby Got it ! - and I've wasted your time ! - It just sounded like you did not have it in your statement ! - Highly Recomended by centrist pundit- geo steve '08 author of '1/2 a book' ! ( & therefor a 1/2-wit anyway, at best) lol

I agree with Geo Steve, Patti... glad you enjoyed it. And I might add that he wrote 'Never Say Trust Me' for Kenny Rogers to record.

After he saw Kenny Rogers in concert at Maple Leafs Garden in Toronto. They talked back stage & Kenny ask him, why dont you write me some songs. Gord wrote five new songs but Kenny rejected them all.

I'll echo geo Steve on that one! If you don't have Songbook (Anthology), you have to put it on the top of your Christmas list!!! (If you can wait that long, lol)

Patti, there is too much you're missing!
"Forgive Me Lord" is one of my favorite Lightfoot songs, and only (officially) available on Songbook. along with 17 others.

check the track list here: http://www.lightfoot.ca/sgbklist.htm

Oh, and BTW, Great fun video Jesse Joe! Thanks for finding / posting!!!!

The interview was on {The Journal} CBC News in 1987.

I just went to Wayne's Site and it does not show for the year 1987. But Im certain of this, as I have it on VHS tape.

The interviewer was Daniel Richler... It was on a Friday March 6, 1987.

So this is one that Wayne should check out.

I wonder if Val knows about this interview ? :)

Nothing has happened with it because as GL has said himself recently, he's not ready to do anything with them yet. Especially the live recordings from Massey Hall.

heh heh, you gotta ask santa for gord's Songbook, patti...you'd like Betty Called Me In also (I even like that 'rocker':))

btw, kenny rodgers is playing Orillia in December and can possibly redeem himself by throwing in, say, a live cover of Couchiching;)
