just watched Me and Bobby - got a little teary remembering back to 1973 and seeing Kris and Gord do it together at Massey..
my goodness I love those two guys.
I wish Kris had come out in Stockton and at least said "hey" to the audience..even better if he'd sung it with Gord..
oh my my my..
be still my heart..

wooHOOOO great to see ALL these videos...SUPAH :) tks so much for sharing. kewl, Vickie's favorite Beatle :) lol, I know...that one's getting old (not Vickie...the joke lol).
I especially LOVE Me and Bobby...I've never heard Gordon sing it in concert and I've only heard his recording...maybe once or twice. Which 'inspired' :) me to perform it over the summer at an open mic. I love his rendition and wish my timing was as precise as Gord's!

Lightfoot mentions something about Roger Miller in his intro. I can't make out what he utters. Anyone ?

Gordon has said this last week that he thinks that Roger Miller recorded the songs first and that Kris Kristofferson thinks that Gordon did.

I cant make out what he says here, but in the "{Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island Canada}" concert in 1969, he told the audience that Roger Miller had murdered the song.

Well I suppose your right Patti. ;)
Roger Miller murdered it.
Gordon Lightfoot brought it back to life. :)
What about the Janis Joplin version ???
concert in 1969, he told the audience that Roger Miller had murdered the song.
Lightfoot lied.......I have that Roger Miller album, and although Miller's rendition is inferior to Lightfoot's, Miller certainly didn't do an O.J. number on it. Janis Joplin did.

Agree on Roger Miller - it was an OK version. Lightfoot's is indeed better.
Roger Miller never got as much recognition as he deserved. As he said once (I can't remember the exact phrasing) - All I ever wanted to be was Hank Williams and somehow I ended up Andy.....
