View Full Version : Ticket Stubs

I came across just a few of my Lightfoot ticket stubs that I’d collected over the last quarter century and had an idea.
http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/7929/lightfootbulbfu1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
I’m sure that most Corfidians are no less crazy than myself and keep their stubs as a souvenir. Thought it might be fun to post a few of these and see the variety of tickets out there. Who can post the oldest ticket, the most expensive ticket, the most venues. How many locations (states, provinces, countries) can we come up with. The year with the greatest number of attendees/stubs. How many can we post for the current tour - etc. Perhaps those posting their stubs might also share a story or memory around that performance.
Just a diversion while waiting for summer to roll around.

gee Yuri, it would be nice to get by with 9.00 for a ticket again. I have never kept my stubs. I don't know why, just never have. But this will be interesting to see the prices, locations, and dates.

re: Sept.7/2002-Orillia Opera House. The Concert that Never Was..

Oh really.. were you there?.. If so I suppose you've posted a description of it somewhere.. not to bring back bad memories.. but I'd be interested to hear from someone who was there, what the experience was from the ticket holder's perspective etc.. Those who showed up for the gig etc.. What were the rumors? What was the news, the feeling around the Opera House etc..
'just curious..

I was there on that most horrible day..I've tried searching for my posts at that time..some of them are under 'crashman'..I'll keep looking.
It was quite a day and night.

I was there, and Char didn't even know me.....

We were assembled at the doors, it seemed to be late and we were wondering why the doors weren't opened. Then somebody came out and said the concert was cancelled as Mr. Lightfoot was ill or not well. Just some mumblings in the crowd, nobody thought too much about it I don't think. I went back to the hotel, and the next morning there were films of Gord being taken from the Flight For Life into the Hamilton Hospital. Someone was bagging him so I knew that it was serious or he would not have been intubated. He was unconscious of course. Rick made a statement later that day, and then I flew back to Colorado and didn't hear anything more. I finally found corfid again - I was not a member at that time, just a lurker and a rare one so it was difficult to find the site again. It was a worrisome time, that is for sure.

Interesting topic, Yuri.

I scrounged around and found some interesting items. I haven't tried adding attachments here; hopefully this will work. How times have changed. The oldest one is from my first Massey concert - $7.50 for a fifth row seat! Also included is a comparable ticket from the most recent Massey series - $65.00, 29 years later. The stubs from the 70's are the old style that were produced by a printing company and delivered to the venue. The most recent one is an e-ticket, printed at home, with a bar code scanned upon entrance.

Massey Hall - March 23..could be 1979, 1978, 1977, 1976 or 1975. Ground Floor - $11.50
1975 was my first Lightfoot concert at Massey.
Massey Hall - March 14, 1980. Ground Floor - $12.50

Great posts.

In the 12/83 'King's City' column, Lightfoot is quoted : "This is my hometown. But I haven't always been at my best".

Does anyone have a recollection of a performance at Massey Hall that you consider sub-par ?

Thanks for those great pictures CHar, including this one which is my favo(u)rite... Lightfoot in the 70's right ? Man did he look good, with that beard. Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo said in a TV interview something like, -> many young guys wishing we could look & sound like him. The curly hair and all... :)

These are the only stubs I could find. The earliest is from the Music Hall in Houston, circa 1972. If I remember right, I paid $3.50 for it because $4.50 for a front row seat seemed excessive at the time.

I know I have some other ticket stubs around here somewhere, but I must have put them in such a secure location that I can no longer find them myself. So what chance will the ticket stub thiefs have?

I could not find the ticket stub for this concert, but these are pictures from the 1978 concert at Jones Hall in Houston. Liona Boyd was opening for Gordon, at least on the Texas part of the tour. My seat was in the front row of the hall, but very close to the right-hand end.

This thread hasn't had much interest for a while, but I finally located my ticket stub from Ft. Worth this past June. I had it neatly stored away in a Dave Mallett LP sleeve. "Inches and Miles", I believe.

The Ft. Worth ticket stub doesn't show a price, but it cost me $55.00. Note that they stamped 'Limited View' on the ticket, and I had to initial that before they actually would take my money. (I might have had a limited view if the opera box I was seated in had been full. But only 3 of the 8 seats were in use, so I got to move to a seat with a totally unhindered view.) The ticket included parking right next to Bass Hall in the Sundance Square area. Which is a very happening place when you hail from Tyler.

I met Terry and Mike on the street after the show. They came out of a service entrance in the back of the concert hall, and asked me if I knew where the Renaissance (?) Hotel was. I didn't -- but Mike and Terry were kind enought to chat with me for a few minutes and sign my booklet from the SongBook collection. Very fine gentlemen, indeed!

I would have attached these pics to my previous posting, but Corfid didn't seem to want to let me do that. Or else I just don't understand the process.
