Hi Jesse,

cool pictures. Esp the one with the cats waiting for their "dinner" and the beer bottle (?!) Christmas tree. That ball is made out of magnets. My son has those at home, but I doubt he would have the patience to make something like that. :)

Those kitties are so sweet....hope the fisherman gave them a taste.

Kerstin, that beer bottle tree wouldn't last long at my house.
I spend a good deal of time during the holidays doing nothing but getting kitties out of the Christmas tree, cleaning up broken ornaments or pulling ribbon out of their little kitty mouths...lol.
They make it so entertaining around here.
Gotta love 'em and I do.

Jesse Joe, thanks for sharing these neat pictures. I like them all but the lady in handcuffs is rather interesting.

Hi Nightingale,

you're so right. My cat loves Christmas trees, too. We have ours on a table, so the dog wont get to it. He knows better than to jump up there. ( at least while we're at home) So the cat gets the ornaments off the tree and throws them down to him and then he can chew them up. They have developed a good partner ship that way. lol

Hi Jesse,

wonder what that skull is made from? Looks like Legos to me. :)

You are right on with the lego Kerstin...:clap::clap::clap::clap:

Here’s (http://www.flickr.com/photos/85991162@N00/sets/72157601020048112/) something you don’t see every day.
Crystal skulls (http://skepdic.com/crystalskull.html) aren’t the hip new thing in parapsychological woo-woo any more, but they were very big back in the heyday of documentaries (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0074007/) narrated by Leonard Nimoy.
Why spend all the time carving and interminably polishing one, though, when you can make one with exactly the same mystic powers out of a buggerload of 1x2 clear Lego plates?

Awwwww!!! I LOVE that little mouse eating the carrot! Soooo cute!!!

Nightingale
02-09-2008, 12:39 AM
Yep, that mouse is adorable...lol

Kerstin, isn't it amazing how animals can bond?
All my cats sleep on top of the dog...lol. If she gets cold I guess she just reaches over and adds another kitty to the pile.

Okay, that lego skull is a bit creepy...

Published Thursday February 14th, 2008

Power lines burn in Stroudsburg, Pa. yesterday. Ice fell overnight in the Poconos and caused scattered power outages in the region.

Ouch!!

A Pitbull decided he would battle a Porcupine in back of his house in Southern California.
But being both brave and stupid, he ultimately learned the hard way that he can't always win.
No matter how tough you are!

http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/1561/download2ss4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

A vet sedated the dog, and then removed a total of 1,347 quills.
The dog survived, and hopefully learned a valuable lesson.

Why?? Who would want to go diving while sitting in their car?! I know they made cars once that swim (forgot the name of them). That makes some sence, but dive?

Just saw that car on TV,too. They say it's going to be over 1 million dollars. Right now there is only one of those cars around and I guess at that price there wont be many more in the future either.....

A nice, relaxing soak

Published Saturday February 16th, 2008

A Laotian mahout bathes his elephant in a river yesterday near Paklay, Laos, following opening ceremonies for the country’s annual Elephant Festival. The event is held to draw attention to the plight of both domestic and wild elephants in Asia. Laos, once known as the land of a million elephants, has seen its numbers dwindle to less than 2,000 domestic and wild elephants combined.

What are you looking at?

A newborn propitheque lemur poses at the Vincennes zoo, outside Paris. The species originated in Magadascar.

Ouch! That dog that made the mistake of taking on a porcupine reminds me of the same kind of thing happening to my brother's dog decades ago. A little too close and....

I didn't see what it looked like because he was up in Vermont for the event. Same treatment - sedate dog and pull quills which do not come out easily.

The worst I had happen was having a very shaggy dog get skunked. Ugh. Tomato juice does wonders.

Jesse Joe
02-26-2008, 10:33 PM
I remember watching an episode of The Partridge Family, with that very problem. Skunk versus dog. And tomato juice got rid of the problem. Always wondered if it really worked. I guess it is true. :)

Nightingale
02-27-2008, 01:28 AM
The newborn lemur looks rather alarmed at finding itself in the world...lol.

Tomato juice helps with skunked dogs but the truth is that when they get wet they smell like skunk again...skunk just has to wear off in time and it takes a while.
Vinegar, white distilled, not cider, is helpful too.

Jesse Joe
02-27-2008, 10:27 AM
So I guess the bottom line would be, dogs stay clear of skunk.

fezo
02-27-2008, 10:31 AM
Oh, definitely dogs stay away from skunk.

The tomato juice made her livable but she had a slight skunk smell for a while after that and her breath smelled like skunk from licking her fur. This was not her finest hour... Was a great dog though.
