When Alice Ghostly passed away last month,I remarked that Dick Wilson and Bernard Fox were the sole remaning adult cast members of "Bewitched". While Mr. Wilson only played a bit part in the show on occaision,(18 appearances as the drunk at the bar who thinks he's seeing things) he was still a part of the show.
That leaves Dr. Bombay/Bernard Fox who turned 80 this past May. There's other adults who made 1 or two time appearences but overall,he's last. I hope he gets to stick around a great while longer.
I saw the Charmain commercials when I was a kid. I thought, what a silly man getting mad about toilet paper. It certainly became the role he was best known for though.
If you go to IMDB,he has a lot more roles than just these two. I'm sure he was really great guy. May he RIP.

I remember some of the old Charmin ads from my childhood, and it took me a while to get the point behind what was going on. When I did, I found myself agreeing with the customers! You must admit, it did seem a bit unfair for him to tell the customers not to squeeze the Charmin & then the storekeeper turns around & does it himself. Hmmmmm!?:)

Dick Wilson was raised in Hamilton, Ontario.
The very first Charmin commercial was filmed, no joke, in FLUSHING, New York...

Earlier this week while watching "Alice" on the 'ION network" (formerly PAX),in the episode where Flo almost marries Mel's brother, the wedding is aboutto start when into the diner walks Dick Wilson, playing the same kind of drunk he played on Bewitched!
I wonder...coincidence or did IOn play this one on-purpose? still,amazing. ;)

I had the chance to see a special tribute commercial to the man & I thought that it was rather sweet to see.

Sorry I missed it,was it a set of clips in tribute or just one of his classics?

The makers of Charmin have been running a one-minute montage of "Mr. Whipple" and the old commercials in his memory - he made over 500 commercials for them in a 25 year span, which must be something of a record. YouTube has a gaggle of the old spots (see http://popculturewilleatitself.com/nostalgiablitz/2007/11/19/rip-mr-whipple-the-charmin-man/ for a link to some.

I must admit I didn't know who Dick Wilson was until I went to Google. If you click on the link below and the BEWITCHED page appears, see how your cursor turns from an arrow into a broom .{witchcraft}  :)
