Let's not forget the anniversary of the sinking of the Fitz 32 years ago today.

Tomorrow is Rememberance Sunday here in the UK, when we remember our dead from all wars and wear a red poppy to honour them. Seem appropriate that The Ed Fitz. went down on this date - those 29 will be remembered too by those of us in the UK who are familiar with the song.

'Lest we forget them'.

here too Bru - I've been sporting my poppy for a few weeks now and will for another couple.
This is a blog lnk that a Toronto Sun columnist has as he travels Lake Superior in a freighter. The link is for the beginnng of his journey a few days ago and clicking on "previous" will follow chronologically from the beginning. Pics show the freighter, loding etc. It's quite an intersting read. He mentions the Fitz a few times and I'm sure tomorrow will bring some thoughts of that day in 1975.

I had left my clock radio playing all last night tuned to the syndicated talk radio show 'Coast to Coast' which often deals with paranormal topics. I must be trained well because at about 4:55 am I awoke with a start to the eerie chords of 'Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald'. The show closed with Gord's tune and as I lay there in the darkness, I too offered up a prayer for those 29 lost souls. I wonder if you were to stand on Superior's rocky shores and look out from Whitefish Bay on that infamous anniversary, might you see the phantom ship reenacting history?
