Claudia alerted me to Tampa (bein the good kid that she is)..
I hit Ticketmaster to see if there was a sale date..
(since I'd love to see the guys in the historic Tampa Theater etc.)..
and saw those other two Florida dates
with Orlando already 4 rows sold etc..
I think Pollstar, Wayne, and Ticketmaster all have to be conferred with going forward..
to cover all the bases..
etc..

Note: Agoura Hills suddenly goes on sale in just a few minutes apparently..
Things are happening fast out there shipmates..

re: Canyon Club..

General admission standing room only at $58.50 before fees?..
Strange..

I saw Gord and the guys at the Barrymore Theater in Madison a few years back..
It was the only general admission (Gord) show I've been to..
but the funny thing is, it wasn't standing room, but rather an old converted movie theater..
The doors open and all these middle-aged people (like me) ran in to get the best seats (we ended up in row 3 as I recall)..
It was really weird to set the show up like that I thought, but it turned out to be one of my favorite Gord shows ever actually..
It was a Friday night in April a couple miles off State Street, and the crowd was really into it..
Loud bunch'a beer-drinkin cheeseheads on a Friday night..
We stayed in a hotel right across the street from the capitol building..
spent the night partyin on State Street..
It was my first time in Madison..
(been there several times since)..
Lightfoot and Band at the Barrymore Theater in Madison..
April, 2001..
Good memory..

Dream Street Rose

Yes, general admission is $58.00. That is for an actual seat. For $10.00 more you can sit in the center area. The fees are $5.50. The total is $74.00 for the ticket. Then, there is $25.00 minimum fee drinks and/or appitizers(sp?).

The seating arrangement I think is long tables streaming from the stage down to the back of the room.

Anything else? RJ, you are a dear.:)

Are you coming our way?

re: not rich by any means..

ya I'm just kiddin ya..
I spent an absolute fortune on my Rochester, Minneapolis, Duluth weekend etc..
but that aint nothin new..
and fortunately, I aint sittin around regretting it right now (let alone 10 years from now etc.)..
These are the reasons we work and toil and struggle right?..
This is why we put up with it all..
This is why we do it..

"Someday when I'm old and gray and consider what's gone by..
I always will be proud of every tear I've ever cried..
and all of thee old jokes we told around the candle light
to all the tender damsels who have helped us in the night!..
We just let it ride..
ride, let it ride..
even on the evening tide..
just, let it ride."..

etc..

Thanks Claudia,

my cell phone went to Guatemala without me for a few days. So I'll get your message when it returns (with my husband)this evening. Thanks.

DSR,
Can't wait! It'll be a very special concert for me, because as you know, the first time I ever saw Gordon was at the Canyon Club. Actually the first time I ever saw you was there also, even if we did not meet until later. :)

re: Canyon Club..

Is it the casino set?..
or the whole shebang..
I presume at that price you get the double sided show etc..

Kerstin
11-07-2007, 06:06 PM
re Canyon Club

Hi RJ,
I for one can't remember if it was a full set or not, but I do remember that we had to rush out after the show, because they were going to have another band play the same night.

Dream Street Rose
11-07-2007, 06:13 PM
RJ,

It is not a casino. It is a supper club (is that correct, Kerstin)?
I need help with "double dided show".?

RJ
11-07-2007, 06:15 PM
re: need help with "double sided show".?

Two full sets with intermission..
or one longer set (resulting in a shorter show overall)
(I've heard Gord refer to them as "sides"..
instead of "sets"..
He'll say for example..
that he'd decided on a given night
to have The Wreck "open the second side"..
etc...
I always thought that was really cool..
but then The Gord..
is like, well, really cool..
let's face it..
etc.)..

Dream Street Rose
11-07-2007, 06:16 PM
RJ,

I think I get it. They do have another band for dancing and then the club gets rowdy. I am very short, even shorter than Brink and get lost when I can't see. Guess I will have to stay close to Gordon. :)

DSR

Kerstin
11-07-2007, 06:23 PM
I don't think there was an intermission, but I'm not at all sure anymore. That concert was in Feb and I usually don't even remember what happened yesterday.
But that wont mean that he will do it the same way next year...

Claudia
11-07-2007, 06:25 PM
One 'side' or 'two' - doesn't matter. There will be three concerts in three days - I'm delighted....:-)

Dream Street Rose
11-07-2007, 06:27 PM
Kerstin is correct. Some of the time they change the plan when they get there. An intermission is either added or taken away.

I'm so jealous, but amused, by this conversation! Can't say's I've figured out yet who'se going to the California concert(s) and who's going to the Florida concert(s).

I just realized I cannot go to the 3/29 concert in Minnesota as I'll be in Chicago that weekend. So...I'm holding out for other concerts to be announced within my vicinity (or at least within 300 miles or so).

Fun fun fun!! Life is so good!

Hi Gitchigumee,

Just so you can keep straight what DSR is doing, I plan to go to them all. We have tickets for the NASCAR race in Daytona Beach and then plan to go to all the concerts in Florida. Lucky for us, we have friends to stay with.

I am sorry you can not go to the Minnesota concert. But hopefully there will be more concerts posted soon and some will be within the 300 mile limit.

Yes, life is good and fun. Maybe we will meet sometime this year.

GG,

Thank you for such a nice compliment. I am so happy I have finally learned how to really live and enjoy life. My wonderful husband is concerned about having money to live on after the next 7/8 years. We both work hard and don't plan to leave money for the kids when we are gone from this earth. I want no regreats if I can help it. I don't think I will starve in later life and if I do at least I will have a smile on my face. Seeing Gordon and traveling with my "sisters" makes me feel young and also helps me to be a calmer and happier person. Life is short and so am I.

I have meet a wonderful group of friends here that I actually see on a regular basis. Tomorrow I will get to see Borderstone for the 3rd month in a row. He also is a very special person. My husband and I really enjoy spending time with him.

Anyway, please keep in touch and we "will" make GordQuest 2008 a time to meet. Sorry this is so long but I can't help myself. :)

Keep on keeping on.

I'll be going to all the California and Florida concerts (along with my sister, Dream Street Rose).  I'm hoping Kerstin can make it to Florida for at least two. I hope Claudia is able to come out for the California concerts. And I would love it if Pam (Podunklander) could make it out here too. I'm looking forward to meeting Char in Florida, and hopefully many more Corfidians.

I've completed a prototype "GordQuest 2008" patch, which can either be ironed onto a garment or attached to a ribbon/cord and worn around the neck. I'll post a picture of it as soon as I'm able to get Ken's (DSR's hubby) help, when I go down to visit them next week :) .

WOW Kathy!!!! That should be tons of fun!!! Save some energy (and $$$) though in the event that Gord'll be in the Northeast! You know I would love to go to CA (FL too!) and time will tell but it doesn't look good for me as of now.

Can't wait to see the patch!!! It'll probably go well with my GL pasties (aka stamps) just kiddin'!

Somebody probably the Wallace feller recently advised keeping an eye on 3 sites

Waynes
Ticket b....ds
AND
Pollstar
to get the earliest possible concert date news and sure enough a useful google alert within the last hour brought me news of three more concerts in advance of their revelation on Wayne's site

"Gordon Lightfoot's (http://www.corfid.com/tour/searchall.pl?By=Artist&Content=GORLIG&Key=Y) touring plans now include Chattanooga, Atlanta and Birmingham for February"
a quick interrogation of the pollstar site revealed that these three are all in the week before the Florida swing
being on February 13.15 and 16 resprectively
