After months of guessing and speculating, rumours can be quashed, at least for the time being.
Four out of a planned six opening acts have been announced for Blast at the Beach, the Aerosmith concert taking place in Charlottetown at the CDP Entertainment Centre on Saturday, July 21.
Rock band Cheap Trick, famous for hits "I Want You To Want Me", "Surrender", "Dream Police", "The Flame" and more, announced on its website over the weekend that the band would play the Island show. Yesterday, that was confirmed by promoter David Carver Entertainment.
Also, Carver sent out a press release mid-afternoon confirming that Grammy winning R&B diva Ciara, Canadian folk singer Serena Ryder and Popstars: The One winner and Newfoundland native Christa Borden will all open the show.
Two more acts will be announced, but the release did not say when.
Over the phone yesterday, Carver said one band had yet to confirm that it will play the date, and the other will be a Prince Edward Island musical act.
A local radio station is promoting a contest where fans can vote for what Island band they want to see on the big stage.
Also in yesterday's news release, Carver announced that a limited number of regular priced tickets have been released and are now on sale.
The show's initial 20,000 tickets were announced as sold out two weeks ago.
VIP tickets are sold out.
n Tickets to Blast at the Beach are on sale now at all New Brunswick Jungle Jim's locations for $75. You can also call (902) 629-6625 or order online at civiccentre.pe.ca.
