You know how some people say that everything happens for a reason? Well, I don't know about that since there is so much disharmony and injustice going on in the world, but something recently happened that made me wonder. Last Thursday, I had my headphones on, listening to track #7, Ancient Music of China's Dragons, Zhang Ying, Composer/Conductor. I received a phone call from a long time friend, Joel. His sister and I used to hang out together quite a bit. She was either my best friend or one my best friends ever, but she was killed in a car accident 10 years ago. Anyway, Joel called to tell me that his Dad was in the hospital and had been there for four days and he was getting ready to go see him again. I asked if I could ride along, and he said he would pick me up in a little while. But just as we were getting off the phone he got a call from his brother telling him that his dad had passed away. He was 91. He had passed away while Joel and I were talking on the phone. He was one of the nicest guys I knew, and he and my dad were friends before I was ever born. He meant a lot to me and I wonder if it means anything that I was listening to that certain song or that record or anything.

Patti,

I think it somewhat depends on how often you listen to that particular music. I tried to give the "Ancient Music of China's Dragons" a listen but I'm currently in 'dial-up' mode and awaiting my wireless connection to resume. So what I heard was choppy, but I got the sense it was rather ethereal.

If you listen to it every week, I doubt much can be made of it. But if it's on your playlist only 3,4,or 5 times a year, to me that would be cause for pause. Regardless, the music and the moment are forever linked.

This has a been a long-winded way of saying "I don't know".

Thanks for the reply. Makes some sense. I've listened to it a few times recently. It is my son, Levi's. I borrowed it from him a few days before that phone call. Levi has Zhang Ying's autograph.
Especially Joel and I talking at that time was a moment that causes pause. When his sister died, they had told the minister that she and I were like sisters. I do feel like Joel is like a brother. I had this really cool dream about his sister, Becky last year, and we both happily commented about one another's radiant faces.
