Rock group "Boston" lead singer Brad Delp found deceased in home.

I just came from Cnn and read the news that Brad Delp,lead singer (age 55) of Boston was found
in his home last night but
the cause has not been determined yet.

Only that foul play was not a factor.

Delp with his incredible voice range and Boston bandmates came to fame 31 years ago with their self-title debut LP,a quick 1978 follow up and then a new LP every 7 to 8 years with only Delp and Tom Scholz in the studio.

(This due to legal battles with Epic records that eventually led to Boston signing with MCA).

Delps incredible voice graced Boston's 8 top 40 hits,over 11 years ('76 -'87):

More Than A Feeling #5 -Winter '76
Long Time #22 - Feb '77
Peace Of Mind - #38 June '77
(This LP also had the great track "Smokin"! )

Don't Look Back #4 - Summer/Fall 1978
A Man I'll Never Be #31 - Jan. '79

and 20 years ago next month,
"Can'tcha Say (You Believe In Me)/Still In Love" #20.

I last saw Delp & Scholz performing as Boston on "ABC In Concert" back in 1992,he still had it.

Boston had another LP/CD out in 1994 with the single "What's Your Name?" (not the Skynard song) but it didn't become a hit.

One can only hope that Delp passed on of natural causes. A great singer for a great group with a great sound.

I really had never heard of him, and was only interested in the story because of his involvement in 'Boston', which had an interesting sound. What reverberates from the news I've read is that he was a genuinely nice guy.

Too bad, but the only real memories I have of "Boston" is in the Spring of '79. My wife and I were vacationing in Puerto Vallarta with a couple of friends. I became really, really ill (over 104 fever--thats 40 for our Canadian Celsius friends) with a wicked headache--I ended up in the hospital. The bar next door to our small rented apartment was playing music full blast, and it seemed that every other song was "More than a Feeling". It's like with certain smells, that song brings me back right away to that evening, one of the worst of my life (I'll tell the rest of the story at some point if anyone's interested).

How truly sad. Boston's self-titled albumn is, in my opinion, one of the greatest of all time. I'll have to listen to it tonight in tribute to Brad. If you don't have it, I would highly encourage you to add it to your wish list.

I have their 3 main LPs "Boston" - "Don't Look Back" and "3rd Stage".

I bought that 1994 single,"What's Your Name?" but I gave it to my brother after I got bored with it. :rolleyes:

So sad. Proves once again that talent, success and fame are not the answers to a happy life. Thank God GL has made it through the rough spots and remains alive and well and able to continue sharing his music with us to this day. Thank God.

That just sucks... that's the 2nd entertainer in a week that committed suicide.

Unfortunately a lot of guys don't bother seeking help.

I can't even begin to imagine what his family must be going through right now trying to figure out what drove him to do this.

One could go with the easy answer of his not being in the limelight anymore but I think that's too easy.

I'm sure he must have had a deep set problem thta drove him to this. I can't believe it has to do with noteriety. It must have been something more personal.

I don't have the stomach to describe what he did,so just go to CNN and click the "entertainment option.

Couldn't they change the option for this story? It's quite beyond "entertainment". :(
